I have a 06 800 and have noticed a slight clicking noise somewhere from the rear end. I cannot pin point it. The machine has around 750 miles on it. Any ideas on what it could be?

check CV joint boots.. If they are ripped or torn, might have got something(gravel sand etc) in one of the joints..

I infact replaced the left rear inner because of a tear, and everything looked great. The noise came before that tear as I examine the entire machine after every ride.

Please report back if you find anything.

I have also noticed a clicking coming from the left rear of my 800, I will look into it as soon as I get a chance.

Any news on what you think your clicking noise is or was???

I used my machine to pull in a vehicle and when I would turn or throttle it up quickly to maneuver it into place, I would hear a clicking from the left rear wheel area, like there was sand or something stuck between the chrome center cap of the ITP wheel, I can make it do it almost anytime I want to, any ideas what it could be??

The rear bearings have play in them and I will be replacing them (any suggestions on what bearings to put back in there? Polaris? or a replacement bearing from somewhere else? Where?

Could it be the CV's? The boots are in great shape and have never been off, torn or replaced so I beleive thay are in good shape that way but they could be worn some? Shrug

I had experienced clicking or clunking noises when I got my machine under significant power, like trying to pull out a 750 Grizz from the clutches of the snow, and it got progreassively worse till the point it was doing it pulling steep hills. While we were running back to the truck a couple weeks ago and the sound got horrible so I got whoaed up in short order. My riding partner pulled up behind me and said "That doesn't look good." I got off and my chain was off of the leading edge of my rear sprocket. I rolled the machine back to reseat the chain and then we proceeded to tighten the chain. No more problems.

Sorry, didn't pay attn to the machine. Red Face Slap

Not used to these new fangled non-chain machines. After helping a friend tear an engine out of a Magna, rebuild it and then put it all back together and try to get the shaft drive lined up, I think it might take some time to get away from a chain.

GH: did you find anything????

Hey,
If you replace your muffler bearings, Who Me I suggest that you try that new headlight fluid, Crazy there is no need for the 3 light mod if you do but it will work with it if you have already installed one. ROFL

I have not been able to get up north and check it out yet, but will next weekend. I rented a skyhook to lift it up and see if I can pin point the noise.

Last two times my 800 was "clicking" it was a u joint on the rear drive line. To check, put in park and rock the quad back and forth to watch for slack at the drive line u joints.

All my joints look good and seem to be tight. (not loose)

I may get to tear into it today, I think it could be the hubs are not tight to the axle and bearing (castle nut) may need to be tightened up some.

I'll post what I find,
Thanks
