Springs pic or if that doesn't work, go to Myspace.com and look for flhrci. I have these springs that I purchased in a large lot of parts. They were in a box labeled "Polaris clutch springs". If the pic's don't come up, there are blue, red, yellow, and orange springs that are approximately the same od/id. There is also a white spring with yellow stripes that is not in the pic's. The white/yellow spring has a larger id/od, so I figure it is for the secondary, correct? I was just hoping someone could tell me what I have. TIA!!

The sure look like primary springs. No telling who manufactured them or what their rates are. If you want to send them to me I can check their rates with my spring tester. That orange one is useless. It must be for a snomobile. If you white spring is ~2.5" in diameter, it's a secondary spring and by color should be the stock spring for the standard secondary.

Stealth, lighten up on Annie. She's just trying to do her job. You can help by being more careful with your posts. This is a family forum.

I agree with Pope. Changes are you'll never use the secondary or the orange spring. But if every one day you get a wild hair.

Check out the "Terms of Service" at the bottom of every page. The rules of the forum are clearly stated there. We truley appreciate everyone's cooperation. Take it from me, Mod's don't like calling members down. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Cajun,
PM me your address and I will send them to you. I can't imagine why he had any snowmobile parts, but I guess it is possible. These are all from the large lot of parts that I purchased from a guy down the road and I was just wondering what I have. Thanks.

The color of springs don't mean much if you don't klnow who made them. There is no uniform codeing system to each his own.

I talked to the guy I bought them from and he says they are all EPI or stock Polaris Sportsman springs. The box also has a helix, part # 5630781 04(stamped inside the helix), in it. The helix is in an EPI WE034638 box.

I may be able to look them up if that's the case. I'll try that first and save you the trouble of mailing them. Do you know if you have his stock helix in the box or is it the EPI? It sort of looks like a polaris part no.

He said he doesn't remember for sure, but he thinks the helix is a stock one. He also said the yellow spring came in a clutch kit and is the strongest of the primary springs. He doesn't recall whose quad he put it in or when. He sold me a large lot of various parts and closed down his shop because he was having so much trouble remembering things (including paperwork for income taxes for a couple of years shock). He seems like a sharp old feller, but he is way on up in years (94 IIRC) and his family convinced him to close his shop.

Flhrciblueice, I believe the red and orange springs are EPI springs. The red should be have fairly high engagement, the orange should be even higher. Go here to find the spring rates. If that second spring from the left is blue, that should be the stock primary spring. The yellow is too short to be either EPI or Polaris. I'm betting it's a heelclicker spring.

Slap (pardon the cranium flatulence) Big Grin
I just odered some parts from EPI the other day and didn't even think about looking at the springs. I am wondering if any of the springs will be useful once I put on the 28" Swamplites and fueling module. I am still up in the air about the timing keys, but I will probably try them. I already have a maroon secondary spring, HC kit, and an 800 primary. Now all I need is the time to start installing and testing/tuning. Thanks for the help Cajun & others.

It depends if you like high engagement or not. The red probably has the best potential out of all of them (lowest engagement). All of them (except the stocker) will have higher engagement then the white spring in your Heelclicker kit.

I calculated the overall lengths from the data on EPIs site and that's how I ruled out the yellow spring. The read and orange seem to be the right length based on the stock spring. I have both the Polaris and Heelclicker yellow primary springs and the Polaris is too long to be the one in the picture. The Heelclicker spring is short like the one in your pic.
