I had the 800 X2 in the mountains last several days, its far from being long on power, it had plenty enough to go, not not a lot to spare. I know after 2 days in the mountains with the 800 X2 I sure would not be recomending 500s for high elivations. normal 0-5000 foot I am sure the 500s are would be fine if power was not improtant, but for high elivations, I think the new 850 would be by far the better choice over the new 550s.
