Anyone know exactly how the new Roller-Driven Clutch works on the new XP Sportsman? Does it involve the use of a starter clutch and rollers in the primary clutch like the Hawkeye/Sportsman 300 and 400HO?

If so then, they have built the perfect ATV for me in the Sportsman XP550.

Higher and larger radiator with the better clutching, larger fuel tank, EFI.

All the things I wanted with still the best AWD system going!

The clutch on the Hawkeye I had was noisy, I hope isn't that way with the new Sportsman.

And I also hope that the new twin doesn't have the annoying knocking sound that the current twins have.

Did you notice that the gas tank isn't in the usual spot? There is a nob on the left by the fender. I couldn't tell if that was the filler for the tank of if it moved in the back and underneath the seat like the Yamaha Grizzly.

The fuel tank is now low and in front of the engine.

I saw the online catalog that says the transmission is hard mounted to the engine to ensure precise belt alignment. It also says it uses a new 5000 mile MBL belt, whatever that means.

I think the roller part of the "roller-driven" clutching is related to the secondary and not the primary clutch, but I really don't know. I think that the snowmobile guys may knoe more about that than I do.

I also read on another forum that a frame section is easily removeable and a belt change can be done in 12 minutes.

My pard called from Vegas this morning. True 850 twin (reported the signature is like no other), awesome variable PWR steering, Front suspension is awesome. The trans and belt alignment are "perfect". Whatever that means. (maybe Can Am style engaugement?)
