You sprayed the carb out or took it apart and cleaned it out. Sounds like a dirty carb to me. You need to take it apart and pull all the jets etc. and clean them.

Jets are little brass pieces that screw into the carb on the inside. Pull the carb, turn it over and remove the bowl, (the bottom ) then pull the pin on the float, then start pulling everything that screws in once you get everything off, clean realy good with carb cleaner and put it back together. Don't loose any pieces and be sure to put everything back where you found it. It has no extra pieces LOL

Look in these favorites, look for "changeing jet" that will give you a good idea about what you are into.

Actually, part throttle and full throttle come out of the same circuit. If it's idling with the seafoam run it long enough say that you get some of the mixed gas in the fuel bowl. It will eventually loosen up, but could take a while. To clean the carb, get a can of Berryman's B-12 aerosol carb and choke cleaner. Remove the pilot jet and spray it in the gas passage behind the pilot jet. Then spray it in the main jet passage and the hole in the main. That should dissolve most of what's giving you problems if the gas solidified.

Also check the carb boot - I had a problem where it idled ok after it was warm, did ok at very low revs & again a WOT. Midrange it coughed, sputtered backfired. I had a crack in the boot - low revs the crack stayed mostly closed, high revs it had enough vacuum to grab the fuel - midrange it ran like crap.

i pulled all jets and sprayed out with air compresser and carb cleaner, put back together and hooked everything up still no luck.i never really looked at the rubber boot to see if there was a hole or crack,i will check that out.i can only find the B-12 in a can like seafoam comes in that you put in the gas,i can't seem to find the spray kind so i think the kind i used was Gunk carb cleaner?does anyone think it could be the cam?i have seen a couple of comments on the net about the cam being the problem? or do you think it's all carb or gas related?i have had the seafoam in the gas for a couple of weeks and gone threw around a half tank of gas so i would think the seafoam would have done it's part if that was going to help at all. Thanks! Mike

The cam issue was more 1998-99 models, but you never know. It couldn't hurt to have a look see and remove the valve cover. You could check the cranking compression just as well to see if the cam, valves or pistons are an issue.

Here's a pic of the stuff I mentioned. It does exist. Berryman Products

What does you plug look like ? run it around while it is sputtering then shut it off pull the plug if it is black it's not lack of fuel, if it's white it is. Also check for spark leak. go out at night and start it up, look around the plug for a blue spark going from the plug wire boot etc to the engine. I just went thru this with my sons quad. I pulled the boot off the plug wire and it ran like a champ. In fact I had to adjust the idle down to keep it from driving off by itself.

i have tried with the air filter cover on and off,the end of the plug was black when i pulled it not white, the white part on the plug has what looks like burn marks on it,the problems did start all at once,i think it started shortly after we were doing some landscaping and i was pulling a trailer that was heavy and loaded with a lot of rock, yesterday when i put the carb back on i seen a spark on the carb when i was starting it.i will give a few more things a look tonight.Mike

So you know you have to have the air box lid on or it won't run, in stock form.
