Afternoon Boys,
I seem to have a problem. I always turn the key on and wait till my quad Diagnostic mode goes quiet before I start it. I was in some wet today and now, when I turn the key on, it don't go quiet.
So first, what is the noise and second, how do I fix it? Is the noise the fuel pump?/ Any idea's/??

Should be the fuel pump. It is supposed to pressurize the fuel system when you turn the key on . .. It should shut off after 2-3 seconds if you don;t start the ATV!

Good call. The old "leave it alone and it will go away" syndrome. I left it alone and it went away. It works like normal again. snoopy

Glad to hear it went away.

The timer for the fuel pump is in the ECU. You might have gotten moisture in the cable

Well Boys, I went through the same wet and it is doin it again. I have to get into the wet up to the bottom of the gas tank for the noise to happen. (I like my winch) I have done it before when it was new with no noise but now I get where the fuel pump won't shut off like it used to. Sooo. I can either stay out of the deep wet of find out where the weak spot is. It might do it when it rains so I would like to find out why /where the new weak spot is. Has anyone had this happen to them?? I bet the mudders know the answer....
I'm a gonna check the ECU for loose wires like YnotAZ said it might be at..

Put some Dielectric grease on the connections as you plug them back in that should help keep the water out.

Afternoon Quad daddy
In findin out what/where the EMC is I found this in the service manual. #3 was of some interest to me. Is it something I shouldn't worry about and use any way? I will pull off the EMC after Tea,(that's dinner to my kiwi Wife) and see if I can just re-seal it some how as it says in the manual that it's a sealed unit.

Afternoon Boys,
I figured I would follow up on this. I do think it was the fuel pump makin the noise. After it dried out a lil it would shut off sometimes, but it would take a while to do it and it would kinda wind down when it did. Not just on then off like normal. then other times it would not shut off. So I got to lookin. I found that this connection was the problem. I think it had a lil moister in it. So after I found it I blew it out and put it back together and been trying it out today. That was the problem and it is all better now. I would like to seal that part but not sure what to use. I found in the service manual where it also says not to use Dielectric grease because it will damage the rubber. Comments ??

Hello Hobbles,

The Dielectric Grease shouldn't be a problem. I use clear silicone spray on all my wires and connections, and I haven't had any problems at all.

Thanks for the response, I gotta use something before the wet gets deeper. Sounds like I can go either way, Dielectric grease or clear silicone spray.

Morning Hobbles... I thought about you as I had the front box off my touring last night and found some water in one of the connectors over the rad. I unplugged everyone I could find and put the dielectric grease to all of them. I used it on the connectors of my old 500 and never had an electrical problem the whole time I had the bike.....

I hear what you are saying but this was a sealed connector and contaminates had definitely got in there without the help of dielectric grease. I guess this is a dam if you do dam if you don't case.....
