Dang I think that Sunshine is about to jump the fence and is starting to lean toward a popo. Stopped into the local dealer and was looking at new Polaris and my I must say they are good looking so guess maybe she may win? Sure hate to give up the Hondus but cann't seem to get what we want in IRS and fuel injection. Maybe they will wake up some day if not too late. Slap

Will she know how to act with 4WD? Probably go places you never imagined on going! Good luck with your/her decision. I sure whatever is chosen will do the job.

Stringbean, glad to hear that you are thinking about a polaris, new ATVS are awesome. I an just you but am going the other way. I have a 2001 sportsman 500 HO, my buddies have 350 rancher, 250 recon, 400 ex honda. I am constantly having to fix and maintain mine while my buddies with hondas have zero problems. I have watched all 3 roll their 4 wheelers down hills (no one hurt) with nothing more than bent handle bars and racks (we fixed on the spot) and took off riding. Maybe I just have a lemon of a polaris but I constantly taking it apart and trying to work on something. Just thought I would give you my two cents.

If you gonna make the jump then jump hard and high.

Best of luck to you on the machine and brand that you end up going with.

I know how you feel, it was hard to leave Honda, but since they don't have want suits my needs and from the sounds of yours as well, it's time to look out the Honda box.

You are in the right direction with the IRS and EFI.

I know my old body sure does enjoy the IRS.

Keep us posted with what you decide to go with.

I couldn't agree more...power steering is awfully nice! Not to mention the power of a V twin.

Go for it. I'm sure Honda will still be there with that technology for a long time. Just in case someone gets the hankering for it. devil

All of em have good points.

Polaris has the ride and a good 4x4 system
Yamaha has power steering, a nice 4x4 system and a nice ride
Zuki has the same 4x4 system and a nice ride
Can Am has the power and ride but the 4x4 system has some issues in my opinion.

All have good points to them as well as some down falls.

I suggest you ride them all and go from there.

Dang Catfish!!
Don't say that too LOUD!! My quad seems to think it gets around just fine and better then several of those quads mentioned....I'd HATE to have it hear you and start doubting it's ability. Big Grin I have no money for quad therapy!

I'm not doubting your quads ability, I just don't like the 4x4 system that it uses, nor do I care for the Polaris system, I do however like the Yamaha and the Zuki, with being able to choose from 2,3 or full time 4 wheel drive. And I don't just say that because I own a Yamaha now, some of you know me better then that as I don't bash brands well only towards COB, but beyond that I don't bash.

I am sure that you and other owners find it just fine, but "I" want the ability to change from the above mentioned settings at my choice and not the machines.

My opinion is that the 4 wheel drive system of the Can Am is a step above what Honda uses within their system, I truly think that Can Am could go from a good quad to a great one with the addition of a selectable locking 4 wheel drive system, they have every other thing going for them and it would be nice to see them at least offer that option.

That's my opinion

What I was going to say is what ever you ride is the BESTTTTT.I do love mine but I think all makes of ATVS are GREAT Everyone has something they like and every ATV has something you WANT.......Any ATV you like that will get you out into GODS COUNTRY is a GREAT quad and no such thing as jumping fences.........JMO.

No bash takin' at all...I'm just joking around too. I have no problem with the Visco others do, and that's fine. I've seen it do better then the ones you mention, and I've seen it do not as good. I like the rest of the quad so well, I'm willing to deal with the minor (to me) issue with the Visco. I really like the Polaris AWD system, but the things I don't like about the quad far over shadow the good. I think it's the same for everyone...priorities differ. I like the auto systems with out the buttons and levers to deal with. I had a KQ with the 18 different gears, I spent more time shifting and playing around then I did riding! ROFL

Just like single brake levers, I love 'em, others don't, just a preference thing.

The best quad is the one in our garage...that's all I know!

The best part about the Polaris AWD is the simplicity. You can send almost anyone on one into low traction conditions and they don't have to give a thought about what to do to get through it. Conversely, they can leave the mud and snow and also not have to give a thought about what to do now. Based upon its simplicity, my boys and wife didn't have the apprehension that comes with what do I do now that comes from having to flip switches in certain situations and only at certain times!
