On 9/11 I bought a 2008 Honda foreman 500 camo, 2 weeks later we noticed the camo was peeling off, it was a battle and the manufacturer finally said that it was not covered but becauase of good will only they would replace the panels that were peeling...My problem is I paid $600 more for the camo and I dont want it now, if it peeled in two weeks what will it look like in a year?? I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem with this 4 wheeler! I just feel that if new camo is put on I will be in the same place in 2 more weeks.. and WOW what a big favor they are doing for me! Thanks

Welcome Jessica.... A lot of the camos that I have seen and heard of have problems with cracking plastic, not peeling.... I would be pissed ...stay on your dealer to make it right....

Stay on them. I haven't had any issues with my '06 Camo Rincon. I did receive a recall notice that applied to earlier camo models of the '06 Rincon's. In other words mine was assembled with the newer panels later in the '06 manufacturing year.

I'm not familar with HONDU warranty, but I know that POLARIS covers any manfactoring defects. That sure would fall under that category for sure.

Don't blame you I'd shoot for replacement with another color. Makes ya gun shy after the first one. Good luck and keep us posted you may help someone else with same problem or save them the problem.

I have an early 05 built 06 Camo Rinny. A few chunks peeled off the first time I washed it. The camo film is applied on shiny tan plastics. Honda denied there was a problem and wanted to charge me for them. Well 7 months later I got a warranty letter to replace all the camo panel. They said there was an application process change in the new stuff. SO I got new panels. It doesn't wash off like the old camo did BUT it is still easy to wear through with tie downs or boots. It is sad the camo doesn't stick better. 600 extra for camo is harsh. It is only 2-300 more at retail? I paid an extra 200 for my camo in 05. On my Kawi they use a different process. Same with the CanAm's. It only comes off when you scratch though to the plastic. I hated the shiny under my Honda camo if it was dull I could just paint over it.

The camo on my Grizz has been very durable.
I have not been careful with it out in the woods and several large branches and thorns have made their way across the plastic.

So far so good for the Grizz, sorry to hear that Honda is having a problem.
I really like the new camo pattern that Honda is using, it's something different on the market.

How did the CAMO on BOMBS come out I know they were having problems with it some time back. Did they get that taken care of? Any problems with CAMO on POLARIS?

Can speak for the BOMB camo, but I can speak for the Polaris camo as my grandfather has a SP500 and the camo has held up great!
I really like the camo that Polaris went with, it's a darker camo much like the camo that Yamaha went with on the Grizz.

My grandfather has some where around 2,000 miles on his quad and in the same terrain that I use mine in (woods) and still looks great.

The nice thing I have noticed is that everyday scratches from tree limbs don't show, I have 1 scratch from trying to sneak the wheeler along side the mail box for plowing that the bottom edge of the mail box caught the front fender, but you really have to look hard and I would have to point out the scratch as the plastic is a dark brown which really adds to the hiding of scratches if the camo should or would be scrapped off.

I am very pleased with mine.

I really liked the Natural Gear camo from Honda as well. I was kind of pissed they never followed through with a complete line of Natural Gear accessories like they said they would. I don't care for all of the scenery print patterns everyone else uses. Oh well, at least it is easier to buy Advantage MAx HD Harwoods etc tape and clothing. I like my camo patterns to match Big Grin
My buddies 06 Bomb 800 had a few places peel or flake off and it was like black plastic under neath. It is no big failure like the Honda debacle was.. I had 4x6 sheets come off my Rinny.

I think the BOMB had trouble with cracking if they got it against some thing. I can't recall for sure but seems that they did replace many and may have addressed that problem already.

The bomb camo plastic was brittle, the plastic actually was breaking way too easily.

Camo didn't peel, the whole fender and flares just broke off. Last I heard they were taking care of it. Manufacturing defect like Cob said.....

My rancher is also peeling badly, I only paid 300$ extra for camo. Brookhaven honda already replaced one engine skirt, and gas tank. They were supposed to also change my rear fender but honda sent them the wrong shipment. Now my front fender is also peeling very bad. Im just going to get them to give me new decals for the bike and I will just wash of all the camo stickerskin

I only just a pressure washer on my tires and underbody never on top. at least since they replace my fenders. Regular hose pipe at home rips it off.

Its like the mud dries on it and when you try washing of the mud it takes the camo off with it.

I have a 2007 Rancher 420 Camo. Believe it or not the bike is a year old and I am only on my 5th tank of gas. It has never been in the mud. 3 weeks ago i noticed the back fender peeleng. I took it to the dealer and they actually said they would replace the back fender only because the front fender, tank and side covers were not peeling. They made me an appointment to change the back fender on the 17th of this month. When I brought it to the dealer we noticed the front fender, side panels and tank are starting to peel as well. The dealer called me and told me they will not change theses parts. I just got off the phone with honda (Phon3#866-784-1870) After expressing my feelings, they said they would let me know something in 1-2 day. I'll post the results then.

Have heard many stories about the CAMO peeling on HONDUS. Please keep the post coming as you may also help others with any info you have. HONDU isn't any different than any other manufactor some times they do good, other times they don't.

I just got off the phone with Honda. They said since the peeling is minimal, they want to wait to see if it gets worse and if it compares to other peelers before they make a decision.
