We just got back from riding Texas Creek for 4 days. Did ride some of the trails more than once. My husband and I got on a trail that was for 18 year olds that are fearless (Trail 6036). It took us about 1 1/2 hours to go 2 miles. We had to "spot" lots of times - it was a steep and rocky trail - but we had fun for a couple of oldies (I'm 64 and my husband is 66 years young).

This was our first trip to Texas Creek and it's a good place to ride for a couple of days. There is plenty of room for camping near the parking area.

Trail 6040 was our favorite. We also liked Trail 27 - it was very easy and at the top of the mountain there is a grave of a WWI veteran.

We noticed that the 4WD trails were the best. The ATV trails were very challenging. None of the trails are great but it was a good place to start the summer of riding.

It felt sooooo good to be riding after a long winter. Love those Rincons!!!!

This is a first for me - but I forgot to take the camera to get pics. Texas Creek is a good place to go early since most of the other trails have lots of snow on them yet.

For our first time at Texas Creek - we were very happy we went.

We did miss the excitement of the tornado. We live at LaSalle, CO which is near Gilcrest and Windsor that got hit with the tornados. We left for Texas Creek Thursday morning and the tornados hit Thursday around noon. Wow! Couldn't believe our ears when we heard a tornado hit just a few miles from our home.

We looked at Cob's posting of pics Poopsie took - wow - the tornado left it's mark.

I promise with my next post to have pictures.

Texas Creek is located between Canon City and Salida. If you look on the map, it is at the intersection of Hwy 50 and Hwy 69. There is a cafe on the corner and you turn there, cross the bridge and follow the dirt road back to the parking area. If you want to camp, lots of big toyhaulers, etc. were turning left just before the parking area - lots of meadow camping. There is a KOA CG (Loma Linda) which is about 6 miles from Texas Creek.

Like I said earlier, only about 2 days of riding. The ATV trails are challenging. The 4WD trails are easier - more my style.

The weather was great while were we there over Memorial weekend.
