Does anyone have any info on the high altitude clutch kit that Yamaha is now offering for the grizzly 700?It is described as having springs and weights but they do not show a picture of the kit.Is anyone using this kit? I am running 26 inch bighorns and was hoping for input.I have already installed the Dalton kit it was an improvement, but i was hoping this kit would add more snap in the mountains.

This video does not tell me much. How did it change the performance and do you run 26 inch tires?

I modified my clutch on my king. I put 26" big horn's on because they robbed it of power. The poor man's clutch kit made a big difference. I put a 2MM shim in the primary clutch and put a stiffer secondary spring in. I didn't change the roller weights yet, but I still might.
IMHO they are calling it a "High altitude" is to make up for the loss of performance due to altitude. All you are doing is keeping the belt riding lower for a longer time.

I would check the roller weight's that came with your Dalton kit vs the weight's of the Yamaha clutch kit. Also compare the springs to see how different they are. I would search the INTERNET to see what you can find.
here is some info I found on clutch rollers

quote:
Some guys are using Kodiak weights for a cheap clutch kit in the 700 grizzly. I have been told 4 Kodiak rollers is about right on the 700 grizzly, but your results may vary based on your tires and elevation.

Roller Weights
-----------------------
Kodiak 450 12 grams (14+ grams with the plastic shell, per my scale)
Grizzly 600 14 grams
Grizzly 660 16 grams
Grizzly 700 18 grams (20+ grams with the plastic shell, per my scale)

So, obviously if you do all eight and the total average is what ever the weight is. Example: 8x12 gram weights is still an average 12 grams. Add all the weights and divide by 8 (get a calculator if you can't do it in your head). So 4 Kodiak's and 4 grizzly 660's are a average of 14 grams total. 4 Grizzly 600's and 4 Grizzly 660's is an average of 15 grams. 4 Grizzly 700 weights and 4 Kodiak weights average 16 grams.

8 Kodiak weights = 12 Grams
8 Grizzly 600 weights = 14 Grams
4 Kodiak and 4-660 = 14 Grams
4-600 and 4-660 = 15 Grams

The idea behind going lighter is because the RPM's will need to come up a Little higher to get the weights to push outward for up shifting. So the lighter weight the higher the RPM, which may result in faster takeoff.

It looks like the yamaha kit is just roller weights and new springs. I don't think there would be a big difference between the two. I don't have any info to back that up yet. Check out http://www.nyrocatv.com/forum.cgi I get a lot of good info there.
