I am interested if there are any precautions I need to worry about while going through deep water or mud recently My friend and i purchased 2 new 400 ho polaris sportsman. They are very fun and unstopable it's almost amazing what we put them through from rock crawling, hill climbing and deep water / mud crossings. my concern is that is there anything i should do to make this machine last except give it a good washing and preventitive maint. after a day of play? Should i worry about the deep water/ mud getting in the drive belt? or is there any thing i should be concerned except not to suck a mud ball or water in the air intake for the carb? Please advise i want my new toy to last. Thanks.

I too ride in mud and deep water and have never had any problems with either getting to my belt. I would suggest that you keep up the maintenance on you're polaris and you will have many years of fun with it. Flag

As always, keep an eye on the boots and cv's. Use low pressure around the boots and belt area, if you mud alot, change the oil more and plugs frequent.

You may just want to snorkle it if you plan on mudding alot.

by the way welcome and congrats on your new Polaris.
