I've only owned my quad for a little over two months. Yesterday after hunting in the morning I left the quad parked at my son's house and drove about 60 miles to hunt another farm where I didn't need the quad. When I parked my quad, I looped the cable lock through one rear wheel and over the frame and then covered it. On the way home today I stopped to pick up my machine. I removed the cover, started the engine and put it in low to drive across the yard and onto my trailer. I only moved about 1 foot and it seemed like the engine hesitated. I gave it some move gas and then heard the cable lock snap. Fortunately there was no damage to the quad but I destroyed the cable lock. When I buy a new lock I will make some type of plastic flag that I can clip on the handlebars to remind me to remember to remove the cable lock.

There are only two types of people who launch boats. Those who have forgot to install the drain plug and those who will forget to install the drain plug. Been there done that, got the water in the boat to prove it.

I have a disc brake lock that I use for my motorcycle whenever I take it to work. It came with a bright orange cord that you lash to the handlebars so that you don't forget to unlock the disc brake before you go. It would be a pretty embarrassing and potentially expensive mistake if I ever forget to take it off before I go. Slap

Above all else make sure you have INSURANCE, a thief wants the machine he will get it no matter what. Or he will make sure wished he had taken it.

If you havn't followed the topics make sure you have a quality FULL FACE HELMET. If you have one already CONGRATS!

I have a good full face helmet and goggles. I rode motorcycles for over 20 years and never rode without one. I've only got one brain and need to take care of it. Still debating on the insurnace issue. I use my quad mostly for hunting so it's not parked out where potentioal theives would see it.

The insurance is a no brainer. It not only covers it sitting in the garage but transporting and while out hunting. It is really cheap and the piece of mind is worth a bundle.

Ha ha! Yer old!

I forgot a cable lock on the trailer once. It was the 5/8" Kryptonite cable that locked to itself. I discovered the big bad cable was secured by a weak cast lock that looked like aluminum or pewter. It split wide open within one revolution . There was a lot of street bike guys that bent brake discs or fell over forgetting their sick locks. Thieves were using cans of freon to bust thise locks off..

Yeh, boats and plugs. More then once for me, always been able to salvage the day though. Got a favorite story that is a tribute to stupidity and alcohol. Seems like some young adults backed the boat into the water, proceeded to leave it on the trailer while imbibing some more, then discovered the boat was FULL of water. They said it was all the tow rig could do to pull that boat load of water out of the lake. Roll Eyes

Not recommended!!

Life is full of stuff--I once parked my quad in front of my pu, and dealt with a snorty cow, and a newborn calf, got back in the pu, and TRIED to run over my quad. Eek
