Hi all,

Just curious about whether kids can ride safely on the back of a 2 up like the X2 or Max ?
I've an 8 yr old I'd love to take with on rides, and should probably consider before the purchase.

Thanks,

If I had the money, the 2 up I'd have to ride the kids would be a side by side like the Polaris RZR!

JD 500,
"Officially" the sticker says no passengers under 12 years old. They do make a foot rest extension for short passengers to help them stay more stable and maintain balance. Otherwise small kids tend to look like bronc riders in action. How'd I know that??

My kids love it. Best of all, on a 2-up, I don't even know they are there. Much better than 2 on a 1-up...and safer. 2-ups keep the the weight forward of the rear axle. We had a near serious accident this summer with 2 on a 450 Kodiak, front became "light", lost control and rolled 25 ft down an embankment. Do yourself a favor and get the 2-up if you're going to be riding that way. No bronc action on a smoooth riding CanAm.

With two CanAm Maxs, it is only way to safely ride two people. I agree 100% with ScottCO. I would rather ride in back than in the front on my CanAm's. Wife is only 5'2 and she does not have any problems with foot rest not being high enough... Take the passenger in and let him sit on one...

I carried a youngster on my AC on an all day ride over Thanksgiving. I hardly knew he was back there and we did a few technical climbs.

I would be careful putting anyone that young on a wheeler, 2 up or not.

At that age are they in tune to the reaction of a quad while in motion?

Don't get me wrong, I have ridden double with young ones, but never at speeds of more then 2 mph as I was to worried.

If a person could afford it, a side by side would be better suited for riding double with a young inexperienced rider.

Thanks all. Will definately take the kid with to check if she can reach foot/hand rests.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know if a 2 up (X2 or Can am max) will fit in back of std 6 ft truck bed ? does it rest on tailgate ? any issues ?

Thanks,

My buddy puts his 650 Max in an Avalanche. He uses the LA Guard Dog. No Problems.

A two up is 86 inches long that is 7-2, add some wiggle room and you are talking 7-6 +. Was me I would lay some 2x8's down and plan on it resting on them as it will definately be on the tail gate. The 2X's would bear most of the weight.

When I load my x2 in the bed of the truck the rear wheels rest in the crack between the bed and the tail gate but I have the brush guard on the front too so it might fit a bit better with out that on there.

Morning all,

Warith - no issues with some of the ATV's weight on the gate ?

I have no idea what kind of weight rating the tailgate cables have. (it's a Chevy 1500hd)

And I haven't exactly decided whether to get ramps or trailer. Live in a condo with a community garage. Can't get truck in garage, so if I had a trailer, I'd either have to move trailer with atv by hand into garage, or move empty trailer into space, then load atv on it.
??

Cob - I will definetely get bumpers fore and aft. Winch, Skids...

I had a chevy 1500 when I brought the quad I would make sure the tailgate cables had been replaced in the recall they had on them. Other than that just inspect them and you should be good to go.
