Thats why I work for myself Big Grin

Well, hopefully all goes well for ya on Friday and you can make it down there before they close. What size trailer are you looking to purchase?

Be sure to keep us informed.

Rockbanger - I never got an email back from those folks, and I aint got no money nohow anyway. I was 'spectin a big check from a job I did, but sometimes that is the downfall of workin for yourself. Those 30 day draws git mighty tuff sometimes.

Thanks for your offer of help anyway.

Yeah, I went by there today to get the trailer that I wanted and they were holding for me, and to my amazement they sold it about 30 minutes before I got there. It worked out okay, I went to another dealer, Performance Trailers and actually got me a better deal on an 77" x 12' with a rear drop down gate. It should sell easily as it is is, so I'll get it posted when I get the title and get back home.

Bigbear....shopping for a carrier for 2 ATV's...the SP500EFI and the KQ450EFI.
But...there are 3 of us who like to ride (4 in family, but mom ain't interested), so if funds allow, I want to look for something with the possibility of carrying 3 quads.
By the way...if I had it to do all over again, I would look to go into biz for myself...problem is, I still haven't found anything I'm good enough at to put food on the table!

Cabman....that 'it better last a lifetime!' is what scares me! I'm only in my lower 40's, so that's could be a mighty risky deal! And, the $$ I'm spending now is $$ that the CEO was hoping to spend on home improvement and stuff that ain't a priority to us testosterone driven folks. I'm on thin ice here.

I personally think the trailer would be a great home improvement, trouble is, when you get it, it won't be at home much!

Would make for a mighty fine dog house to throw a sleepin bag on though, should the CEO not like the idea that you bought it Big Grin

Gordon, that sux about them folks not holding that trailer for you like they said they would. I am glad for you that you actually found a better deal on a nicer trailer though. Good things come to good people....sometimes.

Geauxtiger, I know what you mean 'bout workin for yourself. There is a lot of people that owe me a lot of money, but owing me money, and actually having the money is two different situations. I also happen to live in a city that has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country. Sometimes I wonder how people actually survive in this place.

Try heading up this way I'll show you bad. I think WELD county is the highest in foreclosers in CO if not the country. Construction is in a real slump here.

WOW just check WELD COUNTY 367 listed that is scarey.

I thought that was bad here is ELPASO COUNTY 506 almost a 1000 in just two counties.

ADAMS COUNTY DENVER 1256, I knew things were bad just didn't relise that bad.

After much shopping, I am wondering if I really must have a trailer for 2 rides (vs saving some $$ this year that could be put toward the many other 'toys' I just gotta have).
Have been looking back at your 'minimalist' pics several times.
If I don't buy a new trailer, then my setup would be similar to yours....1 ATV on my 5x10 trailer and 1 in the bed of my truck. Just like your situation, I have a F150 super crew...so bed is only 5.5'. Need to leave tailgate down in back to carry the KQ.
Question: If I decide to stick with you on this 'economy route', my concerns are about securing the ATV in the back of the truck. Ford, in their infinite wisdom, supplied ZERO attachment points for tie downs. How do you secure your ride so that you are not scared to death about losing it in an incident on the road?
Comments from anybody are welcome.
thx

You could always make a trailer which is what we did actualy we make trailers all the time for stuff like hauling ATVs around. Just get an old boat trailer for next to nothing and put a bed on it and there you go one ATV trailer for cheap.

If you look around you cna usualy get an old boat trailer for 10 to 20 bucks put about 40 in to it and it will work for anything you need it for.

Warith, I would LOVE to be able to do what you suggest with an old boat trailer. I have a neighbor who is in the metal fabrication trade. EVERYTHING made of metal on his property was handbuilt by him....3 aluminum boats, a huge shop, 2 utility trailers,.... even the family barbeque pit and garbage can carrier!
Unfortunately, I do not have his skills or tools. And, he is too busy doing after-hours jobs for me to ask for his help his evening/weekend jobs are too valuable to his family for me to barge in.

The Louisiana Guard Dog (shown in the picture) secures the quad adequately with a one-point hold-down: the trailer ball!

Trailer balls and the SAE coupler on the Louisiana Guard Dog are rated at about 10,000 pounds or so, thus the hold-down is fully strong and even crash-worthy, adequate to hold an ATV fast in the bed of the truck.

No additional tie-downs are necessary; the spooled rear axle and the trailer ball keep the quad reasonably straight in the bed.

Another advantage, the dynamic load ("bouncing" of quad due to irregular road surface) is transferred to the pickup FRAME, through the trailer hitch, instead of through the bed to the truck's suspension, resulting in a much more stable ride and less "cargo shifting" than with, for example, strap tie-downs.

Fast, strong, and secure (lockable), you can look at a video at http://www.laguarddog.com .

As you can see in the picture, an auxiliary trailer hitch on the Louisiana Guard Dog permits pulling a trailer, if desired (I've hauled a car trailer with mine).

A product that performs as advertised, and--it's FULLY guaranteed--money back in a year, if you don't like it, no questions asked.

Treefarmer,
Based on you response, our PM conversation, and video of the guard dog in action....I just ordered it! Saved me LOTS of $$. Now I can use my 5x10 trailer to carry the PoPo and the guard dog will secure the KQ in the truck bed. PERFECT for the tight, rough country I have to get through to go riding and/or hunting.

Question: The trailer's safety chains and electrical wiring will have to be extended in order to hitch up to the guard dog. Any tricks you wanna share on that ....or do I just need to do what is blatantly obvious?

The CEO was excited to hear how much money I saved her tonight. Let me know where I can you a gift of grattitude! Now I have more $$ for accessories.

Thanks again.
