From personal use, I think Triton makes some of the best trailers out there! It's also worth the extra $ for the Elite series. They are one of the few trailers that have full length support bars that support the deck.

I love my 18' snowmobile trailer for hauling our three Quads. The only thing I would replace it with would be an aluminum version of the same.

Here is a picture of my rig.

Close-up of the trailer

The truck is a 2005 Dodge Ram SLT 2500 4x2 Cummins Turbo Diesel.

The trailer is a 2006 Wells Cargo Road Force series 7x12, tandem axle with V-nose front.

I use this trailer daily for my line of work, I am a tile setter, but even with all of my tools loaded up I still have room for the toys. I can haul both of the quads listed in my sig in this trailer. If I am hauling 3 quads, I put one in the bed of the truck, and two in the trailer.

Some friends of mine have several quads as well, and when we all go riding, I opt to pull the trailer since I have a stronger struck than they do. Sometimes we haul 4-5 quads and a couple of dirt bikes. This gets pretty tricky when using a 14' flatbed. Who makes an 18'-20' inexpensive trailer that we could load the quads "up and over" style? I guess a deckover, or removable rail style trailer?

Look at the picture on the bottom right of this page. You can call them for a price. I know it will a lot lower than Colorado prices. If it interests you, I'm down here in OK right now with my truck and will be coming back next Friday, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

I admire, and I am impressed by the many fine trailers shown on this thread.

Operating at what's probably the lowest end of the budget, here's my ATV/motorcycle trailer:

Starting with a used Harbor Freight (small, I think 40" X 40" or so) frame, I added some planks and accessories, achieving this solution.

Upgrades include:

12" (vs. 8") Wheels
Spare tire and carrier (plus, two 8" take-off wheels stored underneath)
Folding, telescoping trailer tongue jack
Tie-down eye bolts
Rear marker lights
Conspicuousness tape (courtesy of Kenny!)

Yeah, home-made, barn-job, low-budget, minimalist; but--a safe and effective transport.

Also, the trailer's narrow enough to negotiate many ATV trails, for trail construction/maintenance or for evacuation of broken-down ATVs and motorcycles.

Gordon,

They closed at noon today, so I shot them an email. Thanks for the info and I will let you know what happens from there.

I was by there on Terry's Friday afternoon, but I wasn't looking for that kind of trailer so I don't even know if they have them stock. I'm planning on bringing back a 77" x 12' utility to sell, but they will stack them for me to pull back. Make sure you include brakes on both axles because it's the law in Colorado but not even a requirement in Oklahoma. Additionally, the price they quote is for used tires, so new will cost more if you want them. I've got some that have had great used tires and others with 3/32" or less so it is a crapshoot on what you'll get with used.

I also went by these guys too:

J & J Trailer Mfg. Inc.
4318 Newcastle Rd
Oklahoma City, OK 73119
(405) 682-2205

You might call them as they don't have a website, but I have bought trailers from them also and they are good guys too. I usually drop the other dealers name on them as a place I'm looking at to get the best price!

Cabman, Stutz,
Now that I have that 2nd ATV, I need a bigger trailer ASAP. Had resigned myself to having to buy a 6x16 steel utl trailer....but geeeeez, it would be a PITA to bring into the huntng club, with the single lane, curvy, gravel, pot-holed, 2 mile road to the camp once I leave the pavement.
I LOVE the looks of your aluminum carrier.
One concern....10" tires! I'm concerned about GC going though the pot holes. You experiences?
thx

My Aluma has 14" wheels. I think the Triton trailers are the ones with the smaller tires. I had enough experience with those on a pop up tent trailer to stay away from them. Maybe it was just bad luck.
I have had mine to Moab twice and to several of the trailheads here in Colorado. No problems at all. I really like this trailer, seems to be plenty heavy duty enough, yet very lightweight to maneuver around by hand when needed. I haven't hauled Cob's Polaris on it yet, but it should hold up to the weight. Razz

Thanks Cabman. I'm clear on the tire size now....Stutz's link took me to the model with 10" wheels.

If you have had good luck at MOAB and rough areas around Colorado....then should be a piece of cake down here in Lousy-anna where there are NO rocks. 14" tires should be plenty good to get me through the rutted roads to the camp.

From the website, I found 3 dealers in my area. I am going to give them calls tomorrow to see what they can do for me.

I assume you have the 12' model?

Sure beats the heck out of a 16' tandem axle trailer for which I have no other use!

Thanks for the info!

I'm going to try to sneak out at lunch today to look at this aluminum trailer....we have a dealership here in town.
But, I'm afraid that the current high Aluminum metal costs will make the trailer prohibitively expensive....but I'm a brave guy, I'll go find out.

BigBear, dem dang folks at work kinda screwed up my plans for today. Couldn't get to the dealership to wheel and deal. Have had some discussion with Stutzismydog via PM this evening. After discussions with Stutz and Cabman, I am convinced that the Aluminum trailer is the way to go for my situation.
I just really do not want a big, heavy iron carrier for just a couple of little ATV's.
Tomorrow ain't looking good to get to the dealer either. I am COMMITTED to getting to the dealer before Friday is finished though!

You will thank yourself later. But as my wife said when I bought mine,..."that better last you a lifetime" Somehow I think my lifetime is linked to the trailers lifetime. Slap
