I'm looking for a 5x8 mesh bottom tilt bed trailer for my SP500. I want a trailer with the bed made from square box tubing and not angle. Does anyone know who makes a trailer like this?

I used to have a 7x12 trailer with a wood floor that was made with all square and rectangular tubing. It was a custom build by Terrys Trailers in Oklahoma City. They used to both make and sell the trailers but now the retail sales has been sold off and when I last stopped by their retail sales yard, they had all different makes of trailers and on their website it says they can still build customs.

Sure-Trac makes a Tube Frame trailer. Decking though is wood, but not a tilt bed trailer. I just bought a 5x14 tube top of this make. You might find a local dealer that handles them as they are made pretty close to you in Indiana.

Dealing with favorite trailers, I went from a little 4x8 POS harbor freight trailer ($249 new) to a 7x12 wood floor utility with a side gates ($650 new)to a heavy 7x18ft car hauler ($1400 new)to a lighter 7x18 utility trailer ($1000 used)with a side and rear gate and now a 8x18ft snowmobile trailer ($800). Of all these trailers, I like this one the best. It is steel and relatively light at 1140lbs and is easy to load 4 ATVs as I have it now with a toolbox on the front or 5 without it. Only potential downside is the small wheels, but as long as the bearings are maintained, they will last as long as the others. The only thing I would buy at this point would be an aluminum version of the same as it probably would save a few hundred pounds and lighten the load on my 1/2 ton truck and only if the price was right.

Best trailers on the market---call Ridge Runner Trailers and Accessories. Toll free 1-877-477-2887 or 970-858-3911. He is in Loma Colorado, near Grand Junction. I have one almost exact to your specs I got from him. All his trailers are made from tubing, no angle. He uses torsion axles, no leaf springs. It will cost you more than a discount place but if you value your quad you should be willing to put it on a good trailer. I think they are around $1200-$1400.
He also sells all kinds of custom aluminum accessories and aluminum trailers to pull behind an ATV. He builds it all himself.

Don't mean to hijack this thread...just wanting to add an extra option to this line...
I hope to purchase a 2nd bike this year. Currently, I have a 5x10 that works great for my SP500. I guesstimate that I will need a 16' once I start carrying 2 wheelers. Any more preferred choices out there for this scenerio?
Keep in mind I would desire dual axles at this size for reliabiliy and use in other, heavier duty servicies (to be determined).

geauxtiger~ I had my 5x14 customized. I had it built with electric brakes, 15 inch tires, and pressure treated deck. My Kodiak and Rincon fit with gate up inline. Can also haul my Rincon and brothers RUV with the gate down. Although I do have a 3500-lb axle, as per sticker on trailer it's rated for 3000-lb. No annual inspection required here in Pa.

A note though, had I known my brother was going to buy the RUV and expect me to haul it, I would have went to a 16 footer, as it is tight with the 14. Fabricating a bar to go across the back, as when towing, my eyes are constantly watching the rear waiting for something to go for a tumble.

Kenny, I had my SP500 along with neighbor's Hondu Foreman on his 14 footer (or so neighbor claimed) several months back. Was a tight fit once you figure in front and back bumpers on the quads that extended the length several inches. That's why I was figuring on a 16 footer for comfort. When/if I get the 2nd quad later this year, I have to figure in a new trailer into the 'cost to own' price. Looks like ~$1400 is ballpark best I can do for a 16' dual axle trailer. Thx for the info.

geauxtiger, Take a look at the trailertrailer It's a 6 1/2 X 12 that will easily haul even two 2ups. I also wanted the extra width (96 inches across the front and fenders) as I will be pulling it behind the 5th wheel. 3500 lb axle and 15" 6 ply trailer radial will easily carry two. The trailer is build by Fastline trailersfastline. Their site doesn't show this trailer exactly as the dealer I bought from had it custom built. I thought I had a really good buy on it at $1150 no haggling. Thumbup

thx for the info Sujada. Looks like seid loading is the way to go to minimize trailer length. Will keep this in mind.
appreciate it

i have a 14" enclosed trailer with a v nose, it handles two full sized sptsmn's with winches and bumpers, but there is not a lot of room left after loading. i don't think a 14" footer without the v nose would work for two full sized quads....stroker

it is important to know what you know, but far more important to know what you don't know......

I use a 14ft PJ car hauler and the front atv's bumper just hangs over the front and the rear atv's rear bumper just hangs over the rear with a couple inches between the two in the middle..Just the right size for the 2 of us..If needed I could side load 3 atv's..The nice thing about having a trailer this sturdy (7000lb gvwr) is I can haul most anything I need to..JMO..

I dont know all this talk of trailers. I built my own 3 ATV hauler. Its a 7'x12' used a single axle boat trailer as the base then added the 7x12 top put rails around 2 sides and clamshell loading ramps for the other two sides so you can load it from the back or the sides. Got like 24 bucks in to it for the lights. The rest is from stuff we had laying around the place.

CabMan~
I purchased THIS ONE from the same manufacture as you for $1350 and a spare tire OTD. I load the two Suzuki's King Quads sideways using the loading ramps that also act like sideboards. The trailer is all aluminum and well constructed but is also light enough to pull behind the quad to work around the place hauling wood/Rocks and stuff. I like it.

Great trailers aren't they? Well built, LIGHTWEIGHT, no RUST, and they look GREAT with a Yamaha on it. Roll Eyes ROFL They are a bit expensive, but worth the money in my opinion. I like how I can move it around easily by hand if need be.

Yamaha and Suzuki DO look good on that trailer while going down the road Big Grin,...but I don't think that a Polaris would,.... unless it was loaded on the trailer and the trailer was being towed by a Suzuki taking the broke-down Polaris back to the pickup. ROFL
