My husband and I are looking for an automatic 4 wheeler, we have seen a few in our price range but they seem to have alot of miles on them. We just loved a vinson 500 auto until we saw it had over 3000 miles on it, it is a very well kept 2003 but still........ Shrug

I wouldn't say that is a significant amount, but it's been well used. If you're buying from the original owner query, him on problems and his maintenance routines. Take the mileage into account in the purchase price. Almost anything can be made to look good with a lot of spit and polish.

Kelly blue book shows a retail of approx. $3,700 and a trade-in value of approx. $2,600 for a 2003 Vinson. There is no published mileage adjustment data for atvs.

thank you very much, he wants 3600.00 but it has alot of packs and saddle bags and storage cover and so on. i was thinking of offering about 3k. he and his wife go on the long utah atv trails and thats where it has been. he is older and I believe him. If it sounds not to bad on the miles I will make an offer. Roll Eyes

If you only ride once a week and average 50 miles per ride thats only 2600 per year. So 3000 would only be a year and a half use.
I'd say over 10K would be getting up there.

If it's an individual, always make a lower offer, just not low enough to insult him. Everyone sets their price high enough to negotiate. Unless his price is firm, he'll probably make a counter offer. Accessories are usually worth pennies on the dollar that acquired them. Some you may not even want.

Agree with CAJUN accessories are of little value. We all think they are worth a bundle because thats what we paid for them, but to a buyer they mean little.

I don't think iles are excessive most likely they were easy miles. Now if you were buying ATVERS machine and it had 500 miles that would be like 3000 on any other machine.

Shhhh... rol I think you might have things reversed there, the last machine Cob sold only had 1750 miles on it, But that's only because the odometer doesn't go out 5 digits! Really was 17,500 miles. Guy thought he had a heck of a deal for a low mileage machine.

Great advice from those guys...3000 miles is not bad at all if the oil has been changed regulary. Any proof of that? What condition are the tires in? New ones can run you $400. Look at the rims, if they are chewed up like Cobs, you know they been abused. I always like to look at the air filter, if it's nice and clean, it's probably been maintained well. If it's coated with gunk like ATVBums was...could need a good tune up.

A lot of us tend to trade off perfectly good quads with only 2000 - 3000 miles on them just to get something new and improved. (we hope)

Suzuki makes a good quad....Good Luck!!!

Actually, if I were presented with a high miler, and there was a record of maintainance, I doubt if I would be concerned about it. Quads aren't as complicated as cars, and with a little examination flaws can generally be noted. Plus with high-milers, there are generally price reductions that make them attractive. I have a '98 Honda with 23k, and a 02 Kawi with 17k, both are still daily drivers and very dependable. Of course both have been maintained very well, and of course the Honda brakes are in need of constant attention.

As a afterthought-if a high miler has had the seat attended to, that is a good thing. Usually means that the rest of the machine has been maintained also. Seems like every couple of years my seats had to be recovered.
