I would say any of the "winter" months in Colorado. What about closeout '07's?

Hi ScottCO !
I figured since the "knock" on Can-Am was the visco lock not engaging quick enough, getting the 08, where Can-am has supposedly made it engage quicker was the way to go.

?

If I'm not incorrect, LaMigra compared it to the older ones and said that if there was a difference in it's engagement speed, it is miniscule at best! Maybe he will jump in and elaborate or someone can find the post covering it. Good luck on your purchase!

I had my 06 Max for a year and after trying the "other" brand that supposedly works better; went and bought a 07 CanAm. I've not had any issues with visco after 1200 miles and 2 trips to Moab. As stated, the 08 imporvement did not seem verified. I would find a closeout deal.

Probably either 500 XT or 650 Max XT. I have never ridden an ATV, but I also don't want to buy and trade in a year if the 500 isn't enough.
Clearly, I need to ride them both.

The "best" time, actually, is when YOU want it!

If "best" means most economical, it's generally around APRIL, when the manufcturers' "NO-INTEREST FLOORPLAN" scheme expires.

If you're unfamiliar with "floorplanning," this means financing the cost of INVENTORY. SOMEBODY must borrow the money and pay the interest (if any) on all the shiny new quads you see in the showroom.

Most manufacturers have a zero-interest financing scheme to help dealers stock new models, at least the first part of the model year.

When the zero-interest floorplan scheme expires, along about April, the dealer must beging paying INTEREST on all the money tied up in new machines. Thus, at that moment and beyond, the dealer's much more desperately interested in selling the merchandise and getting it off his lot, along with the interest payments!

That is, if the dealer's an intelligent and effective businessman.

Cost a factor? Any time after the manufacturers' zero-interest floorplan scheme expires, usually around April, remains a good time to buy.

Hey, ASK your dealer when his factory floorplanning assistance expires; at least, your dealer will know he'd dealing with a savvy customer.

Tree, you would have to drop down to Phoenix and pop in to our local dealers. They are a chain of mega-dealers owned and run by a chain of Auto dealers. OK, very savvy BUT! The sales staff has more holes punched in their heads with studs, bolts, washers, grommets, etc placed in them than an entire ATV. They also have more ink on their bodies than all of the sales contracts you sign.

So, Savvy has to be placed in context. The floor sales people can point you to the coffee and the restroom, that is the end of their business acumen. They can pull a list out of their back pocket that has full MSRP of every one of the 200 plus ATVS, PWCs, Motorcycles, UTVs, etc on the floor. Anything past that or questions like “where’d ya git your Tat” requires calling a floor supervisor. Discussing components of actual dealer cost requires calling a manager. They only let the manager out of the cage after you have invested several hours listening to the other two people telling you why you should take this “hot ride” home right now.

I believe your run-down of the staff at the "big city" dealerships, YnotAZ!

As the Germans might say, "Wie moderne, wie moderne!" (So modern, how modern!)

(Just read in today's paper, Democrat presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich (61) has a trophy wife (30) who sports a TONGUE RING.)

In the smaller deealerships, in the more rural areas, in the "mom-and-pop" operation zone, a buyer might find dealership personnel, or even the dealer himself, who can deal from the financial reality of the zero-interest floorplanning sunset.

I am going to try what Tree Farmer & Desert Hawk said. I went into the local shop looking at Brute Forces and they would not budge on the price, I will see them on the last business day of January and If that does not work I'll Try April.
