I am looking for some info on trails for someone else that is coming to visit CO. They say they will be in the Avon\Vail\Leadville area. I don't ride up there so I don't know too much about the area. Any info would be helpfull. They will be here the last week of June and the first week in July.

The trails above Vail, Red Blue Mountains are accessed off of Redstone road which is on the north access road and goes up to Piney Creek Lodge. Can ride all the way over to Wolcott. Leadville area take the main road east out of Leadville towards mosquito pass. Lots of mines to explore and you can ride up and over Mosquito pass, some great scenery in the area and of course there is always Camp Hale, Holy Cross trail for the truly adventureous and then areas south of Leadville and West as you go up towards Independence pass over too Aspen. Don't be afraid to explore. Going to Vail on June 20th and will post pics later.

Warn them that they are coming what maybe to soon. Some of the higher pass like MOSQUITO may not be open. Late june is real iffy, usually at least middle of JULY is a better bet. We rode CAMP HALE last year after the middle of JUNE plenty places we couldn't go.

Thanks for the info everyone. I just got back from a trip. Not the fun kind of trip.

Shawn, looks like it is the same person on the other forum that is looking for info. I tried to get him as much as we could gather.
