Well, Coal and I made the run to Fall River Res and fished for a couple hours. We got there and when I opened his tackle box, it was empty. Eek I asked him were his tackle was and he told me it was in his room following the last outing we made. Good thing I had one rooster tail on had in my vest. He did a good job working over the water while I cast flies but since we got there about noon, I expected to do as well as we did. Nothing. We then tried to make it to Chinn Lake but the path was blocked by a rather paltry drift. Had there been more folks there and maybe a winch or two, I may have tried it but since we had just passed a newer mini Blazer that was off the road over the edge, I decided against it. You can see the pics Here

Also ran into a guy who appeared to be leadeing a group of rentals from just below Alice to Yankee Hill and informed me that everything on top was open.

We loaded up and headed to Alice where we picked up 6 geocaches while we were in the area. Was a great day to spend with a young one who has been neglected of attention for a few weeks. He kept telling me the whole way home how much fun he had riding his quad, fishing and geocaching. Makes for a proud Dad.

sounds like a good day indeed. Thought you were going to Loch Lomand though?

I take it no people were around that blazer, prolly went off when there was still snow on that stretch.

Nothing like a father/son outing. They don't happen for me much anymore since they all growed up on me.

Great pixs with nice scenery.

Not many folks. Maybe about 20 or so at the lake but about that many also camping close by.

There was a note in the window that it had happened today and they were away getting help. There was a drift across the road just about 100 yds up the road so I am thinking they were backing down the hill and not paying attn to the road.

Dave, RB suggested we try those lakes since there were limited unload options in Alice. after the ride, I did find some places to unload but not many. Also talked to a guy who said the road to Loch Lomond is still drifted across. Good suggestion RB. Thanks again.

guy must not have been a master of the 57 point turn Big Grin I hate backing down, so I've gotten good at turning around where there really isn't room.

Last time I fished a lake like that with snow around, I slipped off into the water crossing some logs across a creek, then after I dried off and went to fishing, I dozed off and my buddy yanked on my line and laughed his butt off as I scambled to pick up my rod and reel in my "fish". With friends like that, who need enemas.

My idea of fishing is a nap in the sun drowning a few worms or waterlogging some salmon eggs. All that casting and reeling working a lure is just too much work Big Grin

Shawn, was looking at the area in one of Chuck's books, where did you unload, where he suggests 1.9 miles up the road off of Fall River Road?

We always enjoyed camping, fishing and partying up there near Fall River reservior. Smile Although it usually seemed like all we were doing was camping and partying. Big Grin I don't think I've been up there since the late 80's when I got married and the partying stopped! Frown

We parked at N39 48.440 W105 39.045 which looks to be a popular camping and unloading area. According to the maps, this is a Western corner of FS land amongst a bunch of private land. A trail leads off to the East down into the timber and more camp sites. According to Mapsource, this is about .6 miles from the black top but right on FS 174. If you stay on the Black Top, you hang a very tight right on a switchback up the hill towards Alice. There is a huge house that you would run into if you didnt make the turn, or at least run into the very large gate. I just tracked in the 1.9 miles and it appears that at that point, there is no longer any private property either side of the road. Might be something to keep in mind next time but the parking area we unloaded at didn't be much of a problem either.
