I thought I was actually going to be able to get some riding in Saturday but unfortunately have my oldest son's birthday party that day. I always seem to forget them, but the little woman doesn't! Big Grin

I know its been a long winter, but I didn't think anyone could hang around Dave enough to catch his disease. Sounds like Gordon has come down with the dreaded ACQR Disease. No known cure at this time other than a bullet.

Mine hasn't been totally the dreaded ACQR disease. Smile I also have been putting in time at a part-time job driving a bus at the local theme park many of the weekends and a couple nights a weeks. It's funny what a person will do to pay the son's college bills since the market went to crap and I don't want to take out any more loans. Frown ...And unfortunately I am driving the bus on Sunday or I would be out riding.... Big Grin

Ide be up for it but I think the 12 hour drive to Denver plus the however many more hours past there it is would mean everyone would be done riding by time I got there.

Went for a motorcycle ride today with a few others. We stopped off in Idaho Springs to eat. By 1:30pm it was raining pretty hard. Might have been a wet ride up there today.

LMAO
Hoping to get out this year, we'll see. I got hooked by the cowboy action shooting bug, which is where I was today. Church Sunday, then surgery to repair a hernia Tuesday, so I'd imagine next weekend is out as well.

I'm going with 357/38 anyway. My BIL is going 45LC, but he has his heart set on a Marlin.
1st Saturday in Lake George
2nd Saturday in Boulder
3rd Saturday in Wellington
4th Sunday in Byers I think it is

I've been to matches in Boulder and Wellington, and hope to make matches in both others eventually. Today I went to a special 5th Saturday match in Wellington, great range and great folks.

You can get more info and links to each clubs website at the SASS affiliated clubs page

Thanks for the info, I would like to make the one in LG.
John Wayne did NOT shoot a .357! ROFL
I would really like a 44-40. I imagine I would be different than most guys shooting these matches as I beleive in full power loads.

They have "long distance rifle" side matches alot of times. Problem with full power shooting steel close up is you get more splatter and lead coming back at you. I got whacked in the leg by a 45 today, not hard enough to even leave a bruise, but I sure knew it hit me.

That's good to know! I thought these guys were using light loads to reduce recoil and to be able to stay on target and shoot faster. I used to shoot competition with guys who would use comped guns all tricked out with light loads and alot of guys used .38 super. I never thought this was realistic so I just used my every day carry .45's with full power loads, of course we were shooting paper targets with dirt backstops.

In cowboy shooting, it's lead bullets only, no jacketed, and I think the power factor is limited to less than 1000 fps.
