Ok, I finally ditched the old rusted cable on my Pure Polaris 2500# winch. I ordered the Pure Polaris Synthetic blue rope to replace it, but when I got it it had no loop in either end. Any suggestions on how to clamp it? I have already thought of the old U-shaped clamp that you can use for standard cable but that won't fit through the fairlead.

Did you read the instructions? LOL I know us guys don't do that sometimes. I can't wait to see the new winch line. Might make me switch. I want a new quad first.

I can't wait to use it. Imagine my disappointment last night after struggling and struggling to get the darn hooked to the winch and then bam,,,, can't get the hook on....

Looks good though, and no there are no instruction,,,, that I remember!!! May be another story when I get home.

Well despite my better judgement and due to short notice (I leave for Montana by way of South Dakota this friday) I simple tied a double knot in the rope right behind the hook.

Then I hooked to the tow hook on the Dodge truck and attempted to pull it ( I assume you should still break a winch rope in just like a winch cable) so while riding the brakes I winch in the rope and the knot held. Might be a different story when in the mud hole and a Canned ham is watching waiting to unwind their winch cable,,, after they break out the camera first. heheeeee

You will be ok,the right way is get a fid and thread back thru it's self. But for now it will work. The thing is that even if you should break the rope it will just fall to the ground and not try snap back and take your head off. If it fails is an easy fix just retie the knot. Beer

From last career, lawn care, I know some guys who trim trees and do so by climbing. I called one of them up and they said to bring the quad down to the shop early one morning and they could splice it in for me, but one of thinks it may be too small for their tool. So when I get back from Montana I'll take it to them and see what they can do.

But the knot held very well last night and I cinched it up to the hook and its still holding.

There is a knot I use with synthetic fishing lines called the Palomar Knot. You can watch an animated showing of how to tie it HERE!!!!

Simple, strong, and will not cut itself nor slip.

Well I had just a single double knot and it came loose the first big pull out of a snow drift. I then tied # double knots and it held for a really big pull out of the same drift.

I think it will hold now.
