I am trying to decide on what rear box to get. I haven't gotten to do much off road riding yet. How are the U shaped rear box when off roading? Does the armrest protusion hit you in the back and sides? I am 6'5" so I'll be towards the back on the seat when riding.

What rear box is the best? Plano or kolpin, or kimpex are the one I am considering. I really wanted the Deluxe box from Monata jack but he boes have any yet.

I have a Pioneer very simular to the Magnum MJ's sell. The old style fuel cells bolt right up to mine. I have it bolted to the rack with U-bolts. I'm 6-3 @ the 200-lb mark, and have no issues with it on my '06 Honda 680 Rincon. It's nice having as it gives you something to lean up against when taking a trail side break.

I've got the Kimpex. Check out my pics, I'm only 5'9" and I was feeling boxed in so I just mounted the box a little further back. Getting into some technical riding I like to stand up with one knee on the seat, now I can't do that. I end up being the mule for everyone because I have the most storage. The only reason I went with a hard box instead of a soft bag was that I have little kids, I like to ride them around and not like to feel like they're going to slide off, so they are boxed in. Other than that I'd have a bag.

I've got a hard box on my 97 Sportsman and it hits me in the hips when I am doing some pretty rough rock crawling. Granted, part of that bucking would be tamed down on IRS but I would think it might still bang you around a bit. I am wishing I had a soft bag.

Added by request: QuadBoss hard box.

I'm also interested in which hardbox everyone has & what you like and dislike about it. We bought a "Mad Dog Pro Extreme" softside bag last year and were very disappointed. It rained almost everyday during our Colorado trip and the bag was not waterproof like it said. Our stuff got wet! Granted, we were in moonsoon rains, but the bag was not waterproof as advertized. Wife now wants a hardside, waterproof box.
