I don't like the $200 price tag but it would be handy. Does anyone here have one?

I could have used one a time or two above the timber line. Although it may have just rolled boulders around. I have been buried in snow, sand dunes and river banks. In all of those places I could have used one.

I don't like the 20# weight either. I may tinker with a design of my own. Possibly using lighter materials.

I saw this in Cabelas Anchor
Looks like a slide hammer. Never been a problem to find a tree for me to hook to but this one is small enough.
I'll go ahead and leave the link up but I just got done reading the reviews and they are not so good. Maybe this will give you some ideas though. Good luck.

Every idea helps! Thanks. I think the Pull Pal works so well due to the two piece system and angle of dangle. The pull needs to drive it deeper not pull it up and out.

I've seen fullsize 4x4's use them with mixed results.

For an atv, you could carry a 1+ inch diameter rebar and a 2.5 lbs shop hammer. Dull blunt one end of the rebar and drive it into the ground at an angle. For hard pack if this won't work, neither will a pull pal.
