We went to Rollinsville, CO today, Saturday, June 21 to check out the trails. We got about 8 miles up the Rollins Pass road and couldn't go any further because of the snow. We then rode over to Mammoth Gulch (Rd 313) toward Kingston Peak and same thing. Trails are great until you start up the KP trail and then there's snow. We saw several Jeeps trying to get through but looked like they were winching and pushing - don't think they got through. Some ATV's got through the first snowbank but my bet is they didn't get too much further up the trail.

From Central City to Apex Rd is okay - a few minor snow banks but okay.

Looks like it'll be 2-3 weeks yet before we can get to the top of either trail.

A lot of the trail is very dusty already. Seems odd when just a few miles further there is snow!

I agree that it is wise to wait until July to try to get to the top but we just had to check it out. We still had a great time. Several ATV'ers went wild with the mud holes on Apex. It was fun to watch.

It was about 70 degrees in the hills and 86 degrees (at 5pm) when we got back to Greeley. What a difference in temp.

See you on the trail,
Kaye

The earliest I've been able to ride Rollins is Memorial Day. We made it up to the block off for Needles Eye.
