I have been looking at taking a trip to Colorado to do some riding. I was watching Fishers last weekend and they were in Idaho Springs which seemed to be a very nice place to ride.

I am still trying to talk the woman into it but she dosent seem she wants to go because we would be pretty far from the kids but I am dead set on going with or without.

Anyone have any place there they cant seem to get enough of? I want the best views known to man this is why I want to make this state a destination.

Any tips on where to stay or where I could gather some more info would be great.

thanks.

To get the greatest bang for your buck I'd wait till late July so you have a lot more choices. Around Idaho Springs there are some good places but the places where you can spend a week riding would be more like the Taylor Park area and lot's of it is under snow till late July some years and this year will probably be one of them.

That is very cool Cob.

Honestly I have been wanting to take a trip like this for some time and have been searching the USA over for the right spot. She wants to take a trip also but dosent want to be that far from the kids. I myself they will manage for a week or so. I have been looking at Michigan, Tennesee, MOAB and Montanna. I am looking to making the trip around mid August after the kids get back in school so her and I dont have to worry about terrain and weather or not the kids should be on this trail or not.

After looking into several places I think we have ruled out Michigan and Montanna for now but the rockies and MOAB are still neck and neck. I have been to Utah a long time ago with my grandfather, uncle and my dad when I was a child. I just have this itch to get into the rockey mountains, it started with wanting to take my Jeep and has carried over to the quads after I got rid of the Jeep.

The fund for this trip is growing at a good pace and I am looking into renting a RV toy hauler for us so a camp ground with water and electric would be needed.

I have a hidden agenda in all of this as well that is why I am looking for the PERFECT place because I will be asking her to marry me on the trail that is why I am in such a search for the most breath taking view.

If I cant get her to go then some plans will have to be changed and relocated but the trip will go on Smile

I can make this easy for ya. First off UTAH /MOAB is a deffinate no no in AUGUST you would cook there that is desert and it will be well over a 100 ost of the time i the shade and here is no shade.
So that leaves COLORADO TAYLOR PARK has a camp ground with all the goodies that you need for the camper. You could even bring quads out on a trailer rent a trailer in BUENA VISTA have them haul it over to TAYLOR PARK for ya. You can ride out of camp, all he trails that you could ever wish for are at your beck and call. August is agreat ime o hit the hills, just besure and bring winter clothes along it can and may snow on ya.

Ok now for the good part have that special place you are looking for, FLAG MTN is were a couple years ago we had good friends get engaged. Very special day for them, we wen to the wedding in IOWA last fall. Also top of MT ANTERO has been used for that deed also.
