Just got back from an end of October, 2 day Paiute Trail ride. Rode almost 200 miles over 2 days and had a very good experience.

The first nice part of this trip was it only took us a little over 8 1/2 from Los Angeles county to Richfield, Utah. The next nice part was staying in Richfield at a nice hotel and being about 5 to 10 minutes from the trail riding right from the parking lot of the hotel.

The weather was excellent as the highs in Richfield were around 75 during the day and it got down into the 30's at night.

We only saw a portion of the trail system itself, but for 2 days we got our money's worth. We particularly enjoyed the scenery around and above the town of Fillmore as the streams and creeks as well as the mountains in that area were quite spectacular.

A couple words of caution from our experience. Periodically check your tire's air pressure as ours was always fluctuating between 4 1/2 lbs. and 7 lbs. depending on the altitude and temperature. Also, check for trail signs which may have been knocked down by riders or the wind. We missed one turn on a "black" trail and found ourselves on the edge of a cliff in a muddy off-camber situation which could have been disasterous. Ride safely!

We were up there 2 weeks ago. You got the better weather. It snowed our first day. Cold every other day. We stayed at a cabin in Marysvale. We did some fast hard riding. Our second day there we covered over 140 miles. You're not kiding about the markers. I think it's more of the doings of the hunters than natural circumstances. We rode several black trails that were covered in snow. Had a lot of fun.

Thanks guys. Yeah we had fun. The drive was the only bummer. 20 hours only stopping for gas. At the 15 hour mark you start second guessing your decision. undecided

Planobrute,
Chad,
Your Dad sent me a link to this site a while ago to look at your pictures from your trip out West. All he gave me was your handle, and look for Paiute Trail.
Took me a while and I had to register on this site but finally got to see them.. 2thumbs
Looks like you could have used some. Campfire
Who would have thought you'd need a snow plow there?
I think he told me he was going to Oklahoma this holiday weekend. MaryBeth and I were stuck in Indianapolis.
We need to plan a trip this spring.
Later

Dave, I'm taking a group to Hat/Mc in March. Other than that I'm up for anything. We need to get together, pick a spot and make some plans.

Chad:

I might be taking time off work and go to Las Vegas in Feb. So depends on if you are talking the beginning of March or the end. Where on the H/m are you going? As you might imagine there is no love lost between me and the H/M system. Mad
MaryBeth has to be home May 7th to go to a graduation on the 10th so I know for sure that I'll be off then. I'd like to go to the place you guys ride in Arkansas, that would be a close trip for you.
