I have a couple of questions I would like to ask and see if you could help me. You said that we could ride from WPG all the way to Fourche Mt. We rode up there a few weeks ago from WP and was wondering if you could tell us the correct way to go.

Question #2 has to do with the Watershed studies. Could you please tell us when the watershed studies were done and how we could go about getting copies of the studies.

Thanks
Ronnie

I can answer question # 2 tonight but need my map for question # 1. I'll answer it tomorrow morning. Giving it a stab, I'd say head up the east side of WPG then cross over Hwy 8 towards Cherry Hill. Cross Hwy 88 at Cherry Hill and hit the Irons Fork road heading east, then toward Buck Knob tower. The Buck Knob tower road ties into the eastern routes of Fource Mtn. trails. I'll have road numbers tomorrow....

The watershed are continuously being done, we try and do three or four a year. That way, we can evaluate the whole district every 10 years (so there's about 40 watershed total). The best way to find out about the upcoming schedule is to get ahold of what we call the "order of entry". That gives dates, as in years, when we'll be in a particular watershed. I can't send it or post it electronically because of file size, but I can send a couple by mail, or I always have them in my office for public viewing.

That is exactly how we went. I did it last year the same way. It sure is dusty but a nice ride. I was looking at the proposed maps on line and the blue line goes to Cherry Hill on 88. From Cherry Hill north a ways it shows nothing like it is closed. Is it just because it is in town that it shows nothing. Can you take a look and post back. Once again thanks for answering our questions.

Here is the map of the last ride me and Ronnie did from WPG to Fourche Mt...

As far as the water shed issue. Sounds like we need to hire our own independent Biologist/hydrologist to be an advocate for us, and approach this subject with common sense. Ronnie, you should run that by Ed. His organization needs to start accepting donations so we can start hiring people to look at this stuff from an independent perspective. "We" as a core group have no idea how to approach these environmental issues, and are stuck with accepting their findings. As we know if you don't like something you can take any information or data and make it into whatever you want. If you are reading this Ed, share your thoughts on it, lets bring in our own expert to look at these water sheds, and water crossings.

Ed I apologize, but I am not going to be able to make the meeting on Sat, but I have Chad from my Magazine going up. I believe Jim is going with him.

I have to go over to Broken Bow, and map out a route from Broken Bow to Clayton for a Cabin owner.

Like I mention earlier my suggestion is get our own environmental expert, and if the findings are the same, then the findings are the same, and we just need to accept it.

It just seems some of these findings are just so far fetched, and lack common sense, we appreciate Smokey The Bear, being our advocate.

For ya'll wanting to hire a bilogist - just find one that likes to ride and support OHV issues and get them on board. I hope you don't have to hire somebody..... Also, I need a personal visit to discuss watersheds and look at the order of entries. Maybe after the AOCA meets they can send some folks down to drink a cup of "jo" and talk specifics on how and what NEPA is. I'm gone the week before Christmas but around mostly other than that.

As for the ride from WPG to Fourche Mtn., there are many ways to go, by looking at the map. I don't know why the road north of Cherry Hill is not showing on your map - it is on mine.
There is only one good road from Cherry Hill north that hits Polk 70 (FS 76) and goes over Brushy Knob. But, to get from WPG to Cherry Hill looks like a half dozen routes or so that'll work. Once on Polk 70 (FS 76) going east onto Buck Knob road (FS 76A). From there there are several routes that tie into the trail system.

If you leave from the Wolf Crk campground on the northwest side of WPG you can meander through Nunley, then up to Irons Fork Lake where you can hit Polk 70 for a long straight shot to the east. Many opportunities........

Do you live by Bill that owns Camp Wolf Creek Springs? You didn't have the ATV rider stick his head through the windshield and say hello did you?
