We left for Cold Springs Trail Head in So Oregon with the intention of eating lunch there and attacking the Pelican Butte summit. What we ran into was snow 4mi(5600') into the 11mi trail head, making the summit(8000') out of the question.

I was leading a group that consisted of very green riders so I did not want to make this a bad experience. We made the best of it by playing in the snow but as we did the trail became extremely soft.

Sense my quad was the best equiped and I was getting stuck the least I made my way to the back and played recovery vehicle. Here is a pic after I found some really soft stuff.

Over the next few hours we made our way back toward the trucks, at times we were hooked up three in a row all winching.

not very good pictures.

We made it down to the trucks and wanted to get across Four Mile Creek to a fun trail area on the other side. I went accross and quickly decided the water was too high for all of us to cross. Some pictures of me comming back across the creek. The current was strong and it took me down river almost 100' to the tail end of the fording area...fun stuff!!

All and all we had a great time.
