All I took down there was the vin# off the 4 wheeler. Once there they ask me for my insurance card and gave them the one for my vehicles and was good to go. If you get them before you leave you won't have to get the Utah sticker.

I'm new here and just noticed this Thread. To ad to the other places to eat Hoover's has recently added a Sports Bar section which has great burgers and a good selection of imported beer for those who like a drink after a long ride. They also have a killer all-you-eat crab dinner on Saturday night if you don't mind waiting in line.

Boy I hope you guys made it out of here before today. There is a major fire at Cove Fort and they closed both the 15 and the 70. Now the 89 is the only north south route so it looks like rush hour in Los Angeles today.

Those who are riding Trail 74 have to dodge traffic to get from Hoovers to the Rest Area across the Highway. I really am worried someone is going to get hit crossing 89.

As an update the fire burnt 160,000 acres yesterday including some of the trails on the Paiute. It also caused the closing of 127 miles of the 15 and 28 miles of the 70. The roads opened up long enough fo me to get out of there today and now they're closed again. If you are planning a trip in the Marysvale or Fillmore area you may want to call before you go to check conditions. With 250 sq miles burnt so far containment is less than 20%.

Thanks for the info nice have a first hand report although my heart goes out to anyone affected by the fires. Here in COLORADO we are all to familiar with the feeling and the devastation that they cause.

I'm glad everyone made it out okay. We are still breathing the smoke and will for a couple more weeks. It was so bad on Saturday that at 2:30pm the sun was completely blocked. It was dark. As people came off the freeway due to the closures you could see the fear in their eyes and many grown men cried.
The fire has now scorched +240,000 acres and there is little containment. The problem is the record setting heat with no moisture in over a month. All the grass has dried on the deserts and with the strong winds the fire is doing up to 60mph in some areas. Many fire crews are just trying to stay alive with the fire moving so fast. There was a firefighter lost last year in our area. I know they are taking every precaution so this tragedy doesn't happen again.

The stink of burn will hang in the air for a long time after it is all over. Trouble is that the fire is just the beginning, as it leaves the ground bare and any good little amount of rain just has it's way with the land, as there is nothing to hold it back. It will take several years for MOM NATURE to repair the damage, even though this is all part of NATURE and has gone on far before man walked the EARTH. Shrug

I can't recall for sure but a couple years ago the HAYMAN fire here in CVOLORADO I think burnt some thing over 600 thousands acres before being put out. The FS gal that started that is still in jail and should stay there the rest of her life.

None of the Paiute trail has been effected by the fire. This is mostly on the West side of I-15, there are no sections of the Paiute there.

This is about 50 miles from Marysvale.

Go to ATVUtah.com and check the forums.
The ONLY trails that even have smoke are 06 and 15 over near Kanosh.

ATVManager is keeping things updated. He manages the trail system.

Please buy my book "Paiute ATV Trail guide" at www.atvutah.com - I need gas money.

Excellent I hope it stays that way. Saturday noon at Hoovers it looked like it was the middle of the night because of all of the smoke. When I left on Sunday at noon part of the fire was burning east of Cove Fort and they had water dropping helicopters trying to keep it from going east but I think they lost a gift shop at the Chevron station. Then as I hit the 15 there was another flare up along the road and they closed 15 again.
