It was tough for us to have to miss out. Had planned on this all year and then last minute have to back out. The hiker brings to mind a deal I had this morning. We rode BUNCE. We have one place where we come in behind that the rock climbers like to spend time on and that is great, but not for me. There is aplace between two rather large rocks that we travel through to get to the other side. There were two climbers there not really doing any thing just getting gear ready to climb. I wanted to squeese by them, squeeeze is not the right word as there is plenty of room in fact two quads could pass each other there.
As I pulled down there the one climber says you aren't coming thru here. I say WHAT? he points at his rope laying on the ground and says you aren't riding over my rope. Well tell you what then SUKER if I was you, I'd be for moving it before I do ride over it. He reached down moved the rope and I rode through, boy was that hard.

Stringbean/Sunshine - glad you had a good time riding and meeting folks in Colorado. We were going to meet up with you also but plans changed. Maybe next year if you get out this way.

Your friend did have a great answer. Best in those situations to try and get along unless we have no choice. One time we were following a jeep up the trail for a long ways. He had plenty of room to move over every once in awhile and let us pass but no he just continued on and on and on....finally he pulled over and let us by. All I said was "thank you" but I had to bite my lip not to say more.

Thanks for the report Stringbran/Sunshine. I always enjoy reading about quad ride adventures. I have never encountered anyone who acted like the trails belonged to them alone. It would be very hard for me to keep my cool.

Oh man....no one missed Atver Frown

A lot of those hikers and bicylers hate us...at least till they need help, get injured or lost. We've heard a few comments over the years, but have also heard a few admit they were wrong about us. Usually in Moab when they were in trouble.

The ones that are really rude get a free rock/dust spray down compliments of 64hp applied to the big horn tires quickly at the right time. I can be a butt too. Big Grin

Now THAT's funny, I'm still spitting out your dust from yesterday. Us old people (Cabman and I) have a hard time keeping up with you young uns. I need a faster quad!

Just want to add that our 3rd trip to TP was so much better than the last 2 because instead of riding alone, we met and rode with people we discovered thru this forum. Rode 1 day with JohnsWoodshop. He showed us trails on the Pitkin side we didn't know existed. Great guy from Kansas with real woodworking talent.
Then we discovered Stringbean/sunshine and Al and Anita, and it was super finding friendly, down-to-earth people on quads who are just sharing trails and time with friends and family. Hope to do it again soon.
And, yes, all who rode with me will be glad to hear-- I'm getting a faster quad---real soon.
