I had a thought... Out here in the country the sheriff generally leaves ATV's alone. But I would like to be as safe as possible when on the roads. I thought about adding some kind of turn signal and horn on the bike.
I would start by adapting a handlebar switch from a Kawi motorcycle or such. I thought about using LED's for turn signals. Wire them to the trailer plug as well.

Perform your proposed modifications, and you will be perfectly street legal--

IN COSTA RICA!!!!!!!!

No kidding.

Been there, done that.

--------------

Just a suggestion, for riding around your neck of the woods, TX Camo, you might add one of those tractor/farm equipment irridescent orange "Slow-Moving Vehicle" triangles to the rear of your ride. Doubt such use of the sign would be of much legal consequence, but--show's you're heart's in the right place, and increases visibility to traffice coming up behind you; a genuine safety enhancement.

I don't suggest for a moment your brute is actually, "Slow-Moving!"

--------------

Oh, yeah; some motorcycle folk claim LED turn signals require specially-compatible flashers; the incandescent-lamp variety somehow don't perform optimally. No personal experience; just passing on input from others.

Do a little research, see what it takes. Insure it like a car, buy a mc plate, hand signals are legal, put on a rear view mirror, and a horn, stay off the freeway. If you go to AZ. have a license plate light.

This might get you down the road quite a ways! Flag

There is no way to legalize an ATV in Texas. You can do it to dirt bikes but not ATV's. I just want to be courteous and safe on the roads. They passed a law 4-5 years ago that says farm use can ride rural roads. You have to run a 6ft orange flag and stay under 25mph or such.

i've been thinking about a horn, would come in usefull once in awhile...

i'm sure you can get some sort of turn signals, LED would be nice, probably some kits out there to convert with blinker relays, switches, etc...

I know there is a site that has the kits for putting on motorcycles to make them street legal, might do a search on it...

Don't the export Brutes come with a horn? I wonder if we are pre wired for it? My svc manual should be here soon.

Is there a permanent bypass for the override? I run a set of Seige Anvils on the F250. I use them weekly anyway. 5 gallon tank @ 195psi. Cool

Sweet!!!
It's just a normally open switch. Unplug it, and jumper the harness side. Frees up the switch for what ever.

Harbor Freight has an AOOGA horn for just a few dollars. Those are the ones used on all the old submarines and some modern captains retro their boat with one. They also used the same sound on the old Ford Model Ts. I told wife that I want one for my Popo just because.

"Baja Designs" makes kits for streeting dirt bikes, but . . . don't think you need go that extreme.

Lots of dirt bikes have AC-only lighting; Baja Designs offers complex components to accommodate that fact; most quads have more robust 12-volt electrical generation and storage systems, easier to plug-in horns,
directional signals, etc.

For safety, the "slow-moving vehicle" orange triangle's cheap and available (e.g., Tractor Supply Company); a flag-on-a-pole's not a bad idea, either.

Reckon I'm in a minority, but only twice has a LEO paid any attention to me. Once was in Idaho City about 0630, one yelled at me to slow down, the other time was in Quartzite, was yelled at to unload some of my baggage from my single seat quad, so I stopped and let her off, went 100 yds to a wash, and we went on our way. but I mind my P's & Q's, don't go looking for trouble, and STAY WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI!

The horn wires are already there for you to tap into. They are located under the front Plastic & near the top of the radiator.

Rockon needs one of those signs...and 4 way flashers to go with it. Big Grin

Check out this horn I have one on my Miata, fairly small (4.5"x4.5"x2") and REALLY loud. I have a car horn on my quad, they come in handy if you miss a turn or need help. I always thought we should have a 2 beep signal as "help needed"
