Well they admitted the Brute had the baddest engine and tons of low end power. They said the KQ had easier steering effort and smaller feel, lower seating position. Said the KQ could hold its own from midrange to the top and had a higher top end. They picked the KQ over the Brute. The instant 4wd and light steering were the main pluses. They said it had the easier steering and smoother power band, better trail feel etc. They said the Brute was too hard to steer like they were polar opposites for handling. I guess they are right I chose the engine so here I sit on my V Twin.

They also griped about the stock wheel setup on the Brute with the funky hubs. They bashed a stock wheel in and it lost bead. The Zuki wheel was tougher.

not sure how you can get any lighter steering than the 08 brute, i drove my friends 08 Griz 700 with power steering, both about the same, light and easy...

but i don't pay much attention to the magazine articles, more opinions than facts..i've seen very little tests that actually test the machines like for a utility machine, load up the racks, hook up a trailer, use them for plowing, 4wd performance, etc...

I agree. They put a lot of value in their opinions.
I had no problem with the steering on my '05 BF650. I thought it did just fine.
But the steering on the '08 BF750 is noticeably easier.

My steering is a lot harder with the new wheels and tires. Not sure if the fronts or rears are the difference.
