Notice the elevation/altitutde

Mods

HMF Penland Eco Exhaust (Ceramic Coated)
Power Commander (tuned by me with AF Meter)
VFJ Stage III Clutch
Uni Filter

Not too bad for 8309 feet elevation, I was still gaining a little speed, but there was a bend on Hwy 4 and 70+ mph on atv tires is scary

Run on 26" Bighorns mounted on SS108s

for acceleration, the HMF and PC

for midrange and top end the VFJ

you lose about 3% HP for every 1000 feet you climb, so would have hit over 80 at sea level

speedo was about 65, mine seems further off than most, another friend riding with me on his stock 08 was showing i think 68 or 69 and i will pulling away, and i noticed that he always shows quite a few more miles than me on our rides, he also has 26" tires, obviously my 26's through off the reading somewhat

Interesting results. I always wondered how accurate the speedo is.

well since its calibrated on 25" tires, it will be off with my 26's, funny how they can be different between each atv, i never seen an atv speedo that was very accurate

The clutch and pipe must help quite a bit in power department.

Hello Elkbow, How are you liking the Elka shocks still? Thinking about a pair for my 05 Brute Force 750i. They are pricey but I here worth it on the Brute.[QUOTE] If life is like a box of chocalates! LET'S EAT!!!

I am going to do some looking at my machine i went by owners manual during break in and never went past half throttle for first ten hrs. and when i past that 10 hr marked i got onto a flat open stetch and got on it and top speed was around 50mph i didn't know if it should go any faster than this or not? Feels really strong on take off and it levels out around 50mph. About 46 mph in the sand trails. All stock so far.

if thats all the faster it goes, something is wrong

did you check the top speed with the speedo or gps? need to check on the gps

you live alot lower than altitude, i would guess you should get closer to 70 mph top speed at the 1000 feet you live at

also, i never baby them during breakin and i've never had a motor problem, here is how i break them in:

short warm up, only 1 minute, and the ride slow, low rpms for a few minutes until the oil is good and heated up

for the first 20 miles, i don't run redline, but i push it pretty quick with no constant rpm cruising, probably 80% throttle

then i change all the fluids and filter

then run it WOT throttle after that, still not cruising rpms until at least 100 miles and then i change the oil and filter again at 100 miles or so

then i let it go, do whatever, i've used a similar process for breakin in my atvs and motorcycles and never a problem with a motor ever, at 100 miles i switch to mobil 1 0W-40 oil and purolator pure one oil filters
