Hey guys,

Long time Polaris rider here. I've owned a model of a Polaris ATV for the past 12 years, with the current one being an 05 800 Sportsman. I've been looking into getting a new quad here soon and I like what I'm hearing about the new 08 750 Brute.

My question is do you like your Brute, would you buy one again, and what if anything would you change on it? I use my quad for utility work and ride agressivly when I ride. I like to go fast, so I'm trying to figure out if the ride is nice enough to keep up with the way a Sportsman rides? Reliabillity is another factor, I don't want to have to be working on the thing all the time. My Sportsman has been good to me here so I'm looking at something that will hold up. Also what kind of mods are must haves? I will have to have a winch of course, and some reverse lights, and tires but other than that is there anything that is a must have for an agressive rider?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks.

I've never ridden one but I know I sure love watching them get stuck in 3WD in the snow. Not having to think if 2wd, 3wd or 4wd will be enough does tend to spoil you on a Polaris for sure. Every ATV out there has it's advantages and disadvantage, so you just have to weigh each one and how important they are to you! Big Grin

Look on down a few posts, I did a short report on reaching 1k miles on a BF. I use it in a utility situation, like I said in the post the hitch is usless, but at least its there. The quad has been very dependable, use it in the rocks, etc. For other utility chores like spraying weeds, hauling salt, I still use my Honda 450-s, I like the gears, but when it comes to most other things, I get the BF. I still have a 02 Prairie with over 17k miles.

actually I like having the diff lock on the brute, as i don't have nearly as hard of a time turning in 3wd as i did on my polaris in awd...and when i want awd, i just pull in the lever and i have a pen lock from highlifter, so can leave it locked in

as far as comfort, the polaris is definitely more comfortable, they improved the brute in 08, but still not a polaris, but its got alot more power, at least felt power because its alot lighter....

the racks on the brute suck, just tubes like most people use, polaris is better, polaris racks are alot heavier....

the shifter on the brute is way better than the polaris, as far as reliability, just like anything, you can break it, if you do alot of mudding and put big tires on, etc...i beat mine and it has worked flawlessly.....i really like the brute, but if i wanted a pure utility machine and not a 'sport/utility' machine, i would own the polaris...

I am thinking about trading for 08 bf 750 and trading in my 07 800 sportsman. I know i will be losing alot of storage and plush ride, but i want to try out different brand and see if it will hold up to me.

I left Honda the most reliable on earth for my 08 750. I would change the shocks and tires the first day. The ride is too stiff and all stock tires sucks IMO. It sucks fuel but I think Kawi makes a solid engine and tranny.

08 Kawi Brute 750 V Twin Powered Madness. Elkas, Warn, Bighorns..
05 F250 Super Duty FX4, to get it there.
