Okay I noticed last night that my dog chewed on the trailer brake wiring, along with the wiring to the lights etc.
My question is there is two wires coming out of the brake drums and they are the same color. which one is ground and which is the hot for the brakes? Does it matter? How do I know I hook both sides up correctly?

I don't believe that it makes any difference which one is wire to hot, but I would take a meter and ensure neither side is common with ground just the same. Any trailer dealer should be able to answer this question concisely as they see more than most on here ever will!

Are you positive it was the mutt?? Make sure its not rats--packrats! Hate for a dog to get the rap for what those taz can do!!, and if it was the mutt--he may be after some critter like rats that have taken up residence in the trailer! have had dogs just about chew off fenderwells trying to get at mice and packrats.

Take a look at the other side. Maybe that chewed side with the two same colour wires, one wire is to the trailer plug and the other goes across to the other side brake where there may be only one wire coming out. Mine is like that on my old travel trailer.

Well, the brakes we repaired and the mice we exterminated and the trailer repaired where the dog had chewed up.
