Had the EGR valve seize up and needed replaced. Now the danged battery light lit up today on the way to work. Changed the display on the programmer to read battery voltage. Showing 14.8 volts. Checked the batteries, both had the green eyes. Boom the dash displays went to nothing. Checked the codes, showed a battery over charging. Went about 10 miles with no displays except for the programmer.

It's at the Ford garage waiting for diagnosis. Have a rental car.

Thinking on canceling the Moab trip, can't deal with this nickel/dime crap($2-300 every couple weeks).

Even the speedo went to zero, all electronically controlled. What ever happened to the cable from the speedo to the trans?

Add to this I just put my Basset down this morning, bad day got worst. Frown

Sorry to hear about the run of bad luck Kenny. Sounds like you really need that vacation to Moab. Sorry about the dog, that is worse then the truck.

If your programmer was showing 14.8 volts that was probably it. I hope it didn't fry your dash or computer. The electronics in cars today should be protected from that type of thing happing. I always built everything i designed to handle overvoltages and reverse polarities. Worked with too many stupid engineers that would forcefully plug things in backwards and try to run 120 VAC instead of 12 VDC.

Time to upgrade to a Cummins. Just make sure to get the 5.9 not the 6.7. The new 6.7 has the EGR and all the crap your 6.4 does. The 5.9s are gona start getting harder to find. You could just say to heck with the warentie and put a block off plate on the EGR and get rid of the problem once and for all and get better milage all at once.
When where you thinking of going to Moab. I swear I will make it out there some day. I wanted to go this past fall but dident have the money and now I am hoping for mabey next fall or the next.

Too good to be true, knew it when I called tis morning. Alternator came in early Friday. I called at 10:45AM, asked if the truck was going to be done today. Asst. Service manager said It would be done bye 12 noon. I asked are you sure, as I have a rental and could pick it up on Saturday morning. She said no it'd be done for 12 noon.

Now I wasn't born yesterday, but apparently she was. But what am I to know this is her job and she should know what she's talking about, Yeah Right!!! Mad

So I run the rental back, get a lift to the Ford Garage, go in the service dept., glance over into the shop and there sits my truck, it's 12:05PM. She asks can I help you? I give the smart answer, you told me my truck would be done at Noon, and there it sits still getting worked on! taz Oh yes, the mechanic is still working on it. I made a Uie outside for a cigarette.

As I came back in I seen the mechanic giving her a piece of his mind, headed back to working on the truck. She asked what is the latest I need to be on the road. I said 12:35PM, have work @ 2PM (hours drive from there). 12:30 comes and she's headed out the door on her lunch. I went right to the service manager.

Told him of the goings on, she said it'd be done, asked if she was sure as I still had the rental. She assured me it'd done for noon, and here I sit waiting. Mad Bomb

I called work, told 'em I'd be late. Ended up only 30 minutes late. But the real kicker is the Flop, flopped some more. About 1 mile before work I started loosing power. Figured it's headed for a regeneration.

On the way home, on comes the emission light. Now truck acted up not 1 hour later after leaving the garage with them testing the danged piece of crap. I hooked up my code reader, now it's the fuel rail low pressure.

Nightmare Part III starts tomorrow. Shrug Slap Bomb I'm ready to jump off the bridge, any bridge high enough with little to no water running under it.

Just got off the phone with the wanna be service asst manager. She apologized being sarcastic "I didn't think it'd take him 2 hours to put on an Alternator". Tried another wanna be clueless remark, drive it till monday and bring it in.

I'm working today and tomorrow, so that's roughly 200 miles to drive with low fuel pressure. I'll be dropping it off today, said I would get a loaner car verses me having to rent one.

Hope this time it lasts longer then an hour, hopefully a week or 2 so I can let the Dodge/Jeep, GMC, or Toyota Dealer, deal with that FLOP!!!

Our Gov't controlling emissions, no more diesels for me, Cummins, CAT's, D-Max's or Flopper Strokes.

Diesels are good - just buy 2006 or older.

OK, I take that back. Diesels are GREAT for a tow vehicle.

But I would also consider a beater econobox car for the daily grocery-getter.

Just gotta harp on this: STAY AWAY from 6.5 Chevys.

Otherwise-yeah, older diesels seem to work. My '92 Cummins w/360k enjoyable miles!! Bought it new, body is about ready to fall apart. driving

I wasent thinking quite that old but yah even the old old ones are a step up from the newest emisions laden trucks. I have 96,000 trouble free miles on my 06 Cummins and love it. It just keeps purrin along. I always enjoy egging on the Chevy and Ford boys telling them I have all the power theres does with 2 less cylinders.

Now I'm clueless. Neaner neaner neaner. Started the truck up tis morning and it ran great. Drove to the Ford dealer, told 'em it's working great. Couldn't be gelling as wasn't cold enough, Plus I just filled up yesterday and added the Motorcraft snake oil. Couldn't be fuel filters as I just changed them. I kept the truck and headed for the Dodge/Jeep dealer.

About 10 miles past the Ford dealer, it acted up again. Now if a fuel pump or bad injector, you would think it'd do it all the time. CanAm blues returning to the Flop. Maybe dirt in the fuel tank blocking fuel flow??? Anyway I checked out a 1500Ram, and a Liberty Sport. Took the liberty for a ride, more then big enough to pull my 3000-lb trailer.

Left there and headed for work, still acting up a bit, stopped about 2 miles shy of work and played the lottery, shut the truck off. Started it back up to drive the final 2 miles, and it ran great. Shrug Slap Figured all hell would break loose on the way home, nothing open. It ran Great all 44 miles.

If bad injector or pump you would think it'd be all the time. Leading me to believe dirt in the lines restricting fuel flow between the tank and 1st of 2 fuel filters.

I know where there's an unadvertised 7.3 liter F-250 for sale. Has been for sale for at least 2 years now. Guy just holding onto it.

My son's D-Max had to have the tank removed and completely cleaned because of contamination. He bought the rig new, and had only filled at stations, so who knows how it occured. It had symptoms sort of like yours, but would run good longer.

Your are right-these new rigs have tons of power etc, but who in the heck can diagnose and fix them??
