I think while no STATIC weight is held by the Louisiana Guard Dog, Advrider 76, I think DYNAMIC loading is held by the device to a great extent.

With the Louisiana Guard Dog's vertical member cinched down, the rear suspension of the ATV hardly moves in transit, even over rough terrain, because the device passes the dynamic load to the pickup frame, not to the tailgate.

While the static load of the ATV's rear wheels rests on the tailgate, the dynamic load (i.e., as a result of roadbed irregularities, bumps, etc.) is transferred almost totally through the quad trailer ball, to the coupler, down the vertical member, and into the truck's receiver hitch and finally the pickup frame.

Thus, the tailgate is pre-loaded by the weight of the quad's rear wheels; however, no significantly greater weight loading occurs, because of the transfer to the truck frame mentioned.

Some slight dynamic tailgate loading may result from front wheel bounce, and from minimal side-to-side sway. Otherwise, the tailgate remains pre-loaded with the static weight of the rear wheels, with by far the bulk of dynamic loading passing through the Guard Dog to the pickup frame.

CAVEAT: My apologies for talking about the Louisiana Guard Dog on a thread discussing the Tail Gator; accused of hijacking the thread, I must plead guilty and throw myself upon the mercy of the forum.

Since someone else mentioned the La guard dog I will go one step further. If you go to la guard dog they now have a rack and ramp. If ya'll get a chance check it out. It will be one of my next purchases.
