After a long delay (seems they sell you stuff they don't yet have finalized yet) the Dual Monster arrived today. I may shoot for a tomorrow install, if too tired in the morning will install on Saturday.

As for intakes I got to thinking. As with ATV's when a aftermarket filter isn't yet available, some modify there air-box to fit a filter, such as using PVC pipe, and either glueing or silicone the thing in place. Looking at the *Pre* Order release of the Banks Ram Air intake, you notice it looks very simular to stock.

I have a aFe filter, just need the right sized pvc pipe. Still pondering that thought of using the aFe modified to fit the stock intake idea.

Once installed, I'll get some pics up.

Yes, it's installed. This is the only picture I have of it at present time.

Also note the bubble on the spare trailer tire, that came out at Salida, had the tire replaced before Co Springs.

The aFe filter was too big to fit in the stock airbox. I went and got a drop in replacement by Airaid. I went to Colorado and back with this set-up, and no issues at all. I would like to go with a different programmer that has a DPF delete feature, but there's the clean air act deal. Kicker is the county I live in doesn't have an emissions inspection requirement, that is till I go and delete the thing.

And speaking of the cleaner diesel, yeah right! This '08 smokes more then my '99 did. The regen cycle cleans out the DPF, and all that soot ends up in the pipes. When starting out if I get on it good, I blow it out leaving a cloud of burnt soot behind me. It clears up after a while 4-500 miles, but then along comes another regen cycle.

Out at TP, I heard what I thought was a big truck (Petebuilt/Kenworth/etc) to find out it's a Dodge, Ford, or Chevy P.U. with straight pipes. There's a few around here with that set-up, but they are pre clean air diesels. The Bank's Dual Monsters are just cosmetic, they look a heck of a lot better then the stock pipes, plus they run cooler in temperature then stock.

The truck itself I am very happy with. It went up and over the rockies like they were nothing. Coolant and trans. temps stayed the same normal operating temps. My 6 banger ranger about died, along with my b-inlaws Chevy small 8 last year. I did switch the programmer up to the towing mode from the economy setting I had it in going through the flat lands of Ohio/Indiana/Illinois/Misery/Kansas/ and to Limon.

15-mpg towing the 5x14 with 1 in the back of the truck as well keeping the speed at 70-mph.
Home here in Pa I average 17-mpg with the stop and go traffic lights.
