Awesome gains if you have the full system, I have an employee that has a full 6 inch system plus chip and tuner and his truck is pumping out some serious power,,,, if I remember correctly approx 800 hp out of his 7.3 Powerstroke.

Now I am not sure if the power is all due to the Bully Dog or not, but I know he does have the full Bully Dog system and he says it really increased his power.

You can call me a skeptic if you want, but as I have learned over the years, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is! Plus if that had that kind of horsepower, something else will break for sure!

I will gather more info on Monday, with a full list of his mods.

I would tend to agree with you rock but in this case his system is truly awesome.

I know that he did do something with the tranny, but not sure what.
I will find out as well as what mods he has, and if he will allow it I will take some pics so you can see.

800 horse takes some seriouse work to get out of the old 7.3s. The newer trucks can get there eisier but still takes some seriouse money. Make sure he isent just adding up all the claimed HP gains from every mod he did because some people dont know any better. The HP gains claimed buy most fueling boxes/downloaders are under ideal conditions with all the supporting equipment such as bigger injectors/turbo/exaughst/intake and such. Having said that, I had a "small" fueling box on my last Cummins. It was a Bully Dog, Tourque Dog. It had 3 settings. Stock/50hp-100LB TQ/90hp-200LB TQ. To be honest I could barely tell the diference between the to power adding settings because the upper setting added to much fuel and the truck couldent deal with it so most of the extra power was lost in the form of black smoke out the tail pipe. The truck couldent get enough air in it to deal with the fuel added at the uper level so it just got the exaughst to hot to fast and forced me to back out of it before the power gain was realized. With out the nesasary suporting equiment a lot of the power adder boxes dont deliver what they claim to.

Ok Ryan was at work today, so I emailed him for a list of items that he has done to his truck.
Here is the email conversation.
Sorry I don't have any pics.

Catfish typed Ryan,
I know you have done some work on your truck, can you tell me what you have added and what kind of horse power you are getting.

You are running the Bully Dog system are you not?

Ryan typed back I am a Bully Dog dealer through Pietrek's Service Station in Independence. Adding a 6-position Bully Dog chip will give you:
1 High idle warm-up
2 Valet mode "gas saver"
3 Normal
4 40 horse increase
5 80 horse increase
6 120-140 horse increase

The best mileage I have ever pulled is 31.6 miles to the gallon, worse close to 3! Prices vary but stick around $450-$600 but tend to be cheaper for Ford Superdutys due to they are not very complicated and take 20 minutes to install. I also have an upgraded turbo and three inch intake from Turbos Direct out of Arizona, a bulletproof transmission from Brian's Transmission shop in Tennessee. Currently I am sitting around 680 ponies. With the simple addition of a high pressure oil system and stage two injectors the 7.3 will push no less than 850 HP. I am looking for stacks for exhaust and have it narrowed down between 2 different companies. If anyone is interested in upgrading a larger intake and exhaust is a must. I burnt my exhaust manifold gaskets out from having too high of exhaust temperatures.
[Longmore, Ryan]

Catfish typed Have you done any other motor work to your truck besides what you listed below?

Ryan typed back Yes, but most was preventive. There are some parts that go out that I just replace every couple years so I do not have problems. All in all I have about 13-14 grand in extras in my truck.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

I have tried several different programers and modules over the years. I have never had a diesel that wasn't chipped up. With diesel about any of them work. I had a bully Dog module on a 2002 Duramax GMC, at the time it was the only thing out for a D-max. I have a superchips in my King Ranch now, its just a hand held. I used a EDGE handheld in my last diesel Excursion, a hyper tech in the Excursion before that one, and a diablo preditor in the Ford diesel truck before the one I have now. They all seemed to work just fine.

From my understanding the Allison behind the duramax is pretty sturdy, but if serious continual bashing like drag racing is done, then the torque converter bolt flanges to the flywheel(flexplate) needs reinforced. They tend to bend and get all out of shape!

I replaced the tires on my 06 D-Max (from 245s to 265s) and now my speedo is 2 1/2 MPH off. What system would anyone advise for this. I'm not all that interested in bunches of HP gain, but would like something that helps with the MPG.

I have no answer for you, sorry, just a question. Do you know how close your speedo was before the change? Mine is about 1.8% low (according to GPS) and I was thinking the change you made might bring it closer to "right on". Don't need new rubber yet but ....

I was running about 1.5 MPH over before (speedo said 70, GPS said 68.5) with old tires. Now in 300 miles by GPS the truck odometer said 290.

i'm running a Bully Dog Triple Dog on my 07 Dodge Cummins, have 4" exhaust, Aero Turbine muffler, Airaid intake, Quadzilla Boost Fooler and it runs pretty good. I have the 6" lift and 35" toyo MT tires, so needed some oompf, and it surely did it...

Just got done tonight putting on a Mag-Hytec transmission pan and adjusted the bands...

also, on the bully dog, for the diesels, if you run the higher performance modes, you will get the best fuel mileage on the highway, the more advanced timing does wonders for the mileage, I run mine in performance almost all the time with extreme on the highway
