Anybody purchased or know of anyone that has benefitted greatly because of the supposed slowdown in the automobile sales. I know of one purchase of a Powerstroke bells and whistle 4door Ford pu priced at $52k that was bought for $32k that I think I can believe. Looked at some Duramaxes yesterday that still had stickers at $50k, but didn't go in and talk turkey.

In my travels for work, I have seen several GM dealers advertising $10,000.00 off on new trucks. When I bought mine in 05 I got over $8000.00 off the sticker.

National auto sale are in the tank, most are down something like 30+% for the past 2 months in a row. Where we use buy about 16 million cars a year, here in the US, we are now looking at 10-11million pace going into 2009. Deals are strong out there if you are buying outright. Trading another truck in, might put you in shock, as far as how little used trucks are worth now. Used values have dropped about 30-40% since January. If your truck was worth about 20k last January, its worth about 12k now even if the miles were still the same and it was never driven durring that time. My truck booked out at 17k last January, it books out at 10k today on KBB.com.

So if you are just buying, the market is primed with lots of bargans, if you are trading, then that is likely a different story.

Advertised prices on full size chevys in yesterdays paper started at $8,000 off on a stripped down 4x4 and went up from there. I needed a new truck two years ago, they weren't dealing on already built diesels (last of the pre-filter, regen, etc.) then. I am tempted to go out and buy a cheap new truck so as to save the diesel for travel and towing but my "consumer confidence" went down the drain on Tuesday. I expect that the $$$ will be going for guns, mags and ammo, sure the "new" (yet to be passed) bans will probably wither at the end of our upcoming "social experiment" but by then I may be too old to enjoy what they let us have!

It is getting hard to find loaded F250's in Texas. There are none at my 5 local dealers. They dumped them 3 months ago and have not ordered any more. My dealer said Ford hasn't built an F250 since August. Only fleet trucks on lots now.

Yeah a Houston guy picked up a new King Ranch sticker 54K, out the door 37K.

I have a hard time buying a half ton truck. They cost almost as much and can't do any of the heavy work I need to do... The new diesels are a crap shoot with all the new emissions stuff. I would get a Duramax in I were in the market.
