I got my new header done in ceramic, like my last one.

I was chatting with the guy, he said guys are coating their turbo's, downpipe and exhaust manifolds on their turbo diesel trucks and getting 2 MPG better economy and the under the hood temperature is way reduced, which means longer lasting belts, wires, etc...

I may try it on my Cummins.

The addition of ceramic coating to any heat producing part of any engine will help prolong the life of it for sure... getting most of the heat to the exhaust should help with HP as well...

Are you guys sure about this?? Seems like the heat would still be there, just might send it down the pipe aways, and not into the engine compartment. Maybe thats it, reducing the temp under the hood, but can't see the benfits to MPG. Smacks of magnets on the gasline IMHO Confused

i briefly talked with him, but it does have to do with heat, all the race guys, etc. are coating their turbo, exhaust manifold, downpipes, so some searching online, some really interesting reading on it of the benefits

Less heat lost between the head and the turbo means more power available to spin the turbo and more power produced by the engine. Still, 2 mpg seems like a lot. I tend to look at it from the factories point of view: If they could increase milage by 5% for what it would cost them (very little) to coat those parts they should have been jumping all over the idea. Then again they did produce the Edsel and Pacer so .......

i don't think they look at it that way, to keep prices competitive and since nobody else is doing it, they don't coat parts....think of all the little things they could do to trucks, but they don't, as little things add up to big costs...
