Who has them, and how do you like them. Can you give me an idea on mpg's new, and with the amount of miles you have on it now.

Thanks...

Hey Kenny.... We have an 08 F350 Dually... has about 5500 miles on it right now...getting about 13 mph or so...

So far, we love it... smooth riding and runs very quiet compared to other diesels... Great ride....

Kenny, I have an 08 F-550 with a custom bed. Rig weighs about 13,000 LBS before ATV's loaded. Heavy rig and unbelieveable how well the 6.4 moves it out. Even loaded with Airstream and ATV's (about 23,000 LBS.), it still runs well. On the flatland loaded I am getting about 10-11. In the Colorado mountains, it is more like 8-9. It being a diesel I am not looking for better mileage till about 20,000 miles or so. My 7.3 mileage was about the same till then and mileage went up a bunch after breakin. I have about 7,500 miles since picking it up in January. My overall opinion, it is the best truck I have ever owned. Extremely quiet for a diesel, plenty of power, smooth riding (especially for a heavy duty truck)... So far, I am extremely pleased with this vehicle........

Thanks, I'm pondering the thought of a new one. The little Ford Ranger did pretty well on my cross country trip, but didn't think I was going to make it up the Mountains outside Denver on I-70. I know my 1999 Powerstroke got 19-mpg, better when I behaved. The 10-11 mpg for Exposed, and 13-mpg Voodoo is saying. Those extra 2 tires come into play, and all of that weight for you Exposed comes into play too.

I like the idea of a big fuel tank for less stops. Ranger had a 19 gallon tank, and I stopped quite a few times out and back. So deciding on a XL with AC and the added option of a cloth 40/20/40, or an XLT maybe a FX4. All must have the brake controller.

I'm still looking and thinking on the matter. Also considering a Chevy/GMC diesel.

I've kind have been shopping, or at least checking things out in person verses the net. Dodge (where'd that come in at) doesn't make a extended cab anymore, it's either the regular cab, or quad cab. Past experiances with Dodge has me staying away, that and local dealer has no new ones, just 1 2500 quadcab slightly used. My 1 nephew has the newer Chevy (emissions Diesel) 3500 crew with 8' box, SRW and is getting 17-mpg.

Ford's Supercab is not a comfortable seat in the back. At least for a grown person. My knees were up at my chin, and the seat back seemed straigth up and down. I know a crew cab would have to do.

Chevy's 2500 extended cab has a better rear seat, more comfy then the Ford, and I did have more leg room, Although the front seat could have been all the way fwd.

Styling, I do like the Ford's. Chevy seems to have a front fender that sticks out, something I don't care for.

If I ever get moving today, I'm headed to check out F-250 Crew cabs. Still undecided if I want the 6 or 8 foot box. This dealer has a supercab XLT with the 6 speed, but it is only a supercab.

I have the ford extended cab. You dont want to have any passangers back there unless they are kids there is just no way an adult can be comforable back there.

I had an extended cab chevy before the ford and you coudl have 4 adults on a long trip and be very comforable. KC to houston TX and back and all 4 of us rotated to the gback was very comfortable. Ford short trip up town and back and said never again.

I took the crewcab w/ 8' box for a ride today. After I got back, they appraised the car, going back tomorrow to do my ranger. If the end numbers suite me, I'll have me a crew cab.

Something for you to really check into besides the engine is the transmission. The Allison transmission in the Chevy is bullet proof.

You guys are just spoiled. Anybody know of a pre-'94 Cummins for sale?? Cool

Here she is.

Dealer is looking into the remote start for me. As they said earlier models had some issues with the delay starting (waiting for the glow plugs). Only thing I added so far was those Vent Shades that mount inside the window channels.

Looking at a spray in Rhino Liner, and then a High Rise cap/topper. Maybe a sun visor with the Pueblo Gold color to match the rocker stripe, maybe some accents on the cap as well in the gold. Looking too into neoprene seat covers, or some kind of covers.

I have a Ranger CB, and looking for a place to mount that. In my '99 I had it mounted to the Ash tray as I didn't use the one in the truck. Ash tray in this one is off to the side and wouldn't work.

Not sure if you are stuck on RHINO, but here is some of what I found while looking at liners.

I liked LINE-X far more than RHINO after comparing the two for several reasons.

RHINO is a thick coating.

LINE-X is a thinner solid coating. Good or bad I don't know just looked like more durable to me.

Rhino covers any and all bolts or any thing that is in the bed.

Line-X will remove the bed bolts and any access plates and then after coating is dry which I understand is short time will replace the bolts.

Rhino they told me that if you had to replace the bolts it would have to be cut out to access them. No real biggie until the time it happens. Also they said that with RHINO being a thick coating to add the bolts or tie downs back in it would bubble the coating.

One guy had said they had seen RHINO coatings that ppl had taken home after being done that day the CAT walked on it that nite and the prints were still in the bed liner.

After all the checking and comparing I decided that LINE-X was for me. It was going to cost more but after giving them the RHINO PRICE they will match it.

I think both products are excellent.. My brother has the Line-X on his Freightliner bed. He has had several problems having it re-sprayed a couple of times. His also faded really bad. Maybe the dealer doing it was not up to par. I have a Rhino dealer not far from my house. I elected the commerical grade of Rhino... It is above what they normally spray on beds. I am very satisfied right now, guess time will tell.

My favorite "looking" spray in liner is made by Reflex. It is a thicker than average coating that, when clean, always looks wet. The reason is there are water bead size texture bumps that act as skid resistant pads. As I said I like the look of this but I do not like the fact that the anti skid is very effective. Just not my preference is all. I personally like the spray ins that end up a little more stiff that grip items less. There are many of these brands around and can be found and sprayed in inexpensively. Anyone worth a grain of salt ought to be adding UV inhibitors in their liners these days. If they don't I won't entertain the idea of using them at any cost.

The removal of bed bolts is paramount from the perspective of servicing the truck. Not taking them out is pure laziness and shoddy work. We've sent trucks out from the dealer as long as I've been there, since 1994, and we insist on bolt removal. Thick or thin material makes no difference in this either. Most of the liners we see are 1/8" thick. I've seen them nearly a 1/4" (thats excessive IMO) and still had the access, tie downs, and retaining bolts sprayed around with no troubles.

Kenny, don't mess around with after market remote starts. We (dealership) use only Ford Accessory remote start systems as they are much more reliable, compatible, and easier to install. They also use smaller remotes that don't jam up your pockets.
