End of January I installed a AFE air intake on the 6.4 Powerstroke. I seen what I believe is 2 more mpg. Also seems as though the Lie-O-Meter is more accurate, but there is a major con with the intake, they say you need the torque tube to relocate a sensor to get away from the check engine light coming on which is on back order. The light comes on then goes out after about 200 miles, and stays out for about 500 miles. Seems that when I go into a regen mode, shortly there after it lights up. Hope the torque tube does what they designed it to do and the new sensor location works.

With the fuel prices going nowhere but up. I just ordered a Edge Products Evolution. They claim a 10% gain, all said and done up to 2 more mpg, plus tunes for towing, with a max gain of 200 TQ and 100HP. A guy I work with is installing one on an older 7.3 Powerstroke.

Besides these I air'd up the tires to almost max psi, and try real hard to start off slow taking my time getting up to speed. With just the intake, I seen the lie-o-meter display 21 and better mpg, but is short lived with the number of senseless traffic lights in this area. I average between 15 and 16 mpg's with this pollution controlled diesel and the red lights I seem to draw.

I was all ready to purchase an Edge for my CTD until I ran into the price fixing. All of the dealers says it has to be $799.20 or more or the warranty won't be honored by Edge. This really sucks because they are only about 4 miles from me. I am not sure what I am going with now.

Wow, I was thinking warrenty was a company standing behind the qual;ity of the product, not straning in front of the price of it. Sounds like a scam to me.

Most products have MAP pricing and some unscrupulous e-bayers are selling them way below that and harming legit dealers who stock and stand behind their products!
Buy off your local dealer not some smuck trying to make a quick buck playing on e-bay!

I bought the Edge Evolution last week from a local 4X4 shop. It was the same price as I could find on line. I made a 1600 mile trip a few weeks ago before I had the Edge. I got 14.5 MPG pulling an empty 16ft car trailer at 75MPH. The 1st weekend in April I will be doing the same trip. I'll see if there is any improvement. (2006 Silverado LBZ)

Beings as I have the 6.4, the website must be showing a pre-release, as I'm still waiting. The establishment is getting a call tomorrow, as free next day air was last week.

I barely got my 6 liter covered under warranty. No way I would risk modding a 6.4L the way Ford likes to void warranties. I had a 6.4 for a month while my 6L was being rebuilt. I got 10-14 depending on city driving/towing. I would consider a V10 with prices and MPG being what they are... I'll keep fixing the 6L until then.

My ol' D2500 ('01) HO w/6-speed hovers just under 20 mpg overall, regardless of my own driving conditions (town, road, loaded, unladen); yet . . . with the skyrocketing price of the new "environmentally-friendly" ultra-low sulphur content Diesel fuel (of which my engine cannot take advantage), there may be a Hemi in my future!

Haven't worked it out, but--bet the cost-per-mile, with the "cruise" mode (disabling half the cylinders), would be lower with the Hemi than the current rate with the Cummins.

If you can use a half ton yeah its cheaper than a diesel but if you need that 3 quarter ton then diesel is still the cheaper to operate.

At 80cents deference in cost at 14mpg with the diesel and 10mpg for the gas that is the 6.1 chevy and v10 ford and dodges you pay approx 20% more for fuel and get a return of an extra 40% its close like your maken about a nickel a gallon for a tank of fuel but still better than nothing.

If however you can get along just fine with a half ton then its a whole new ball game.

Just an update. The aFe intake came off today, and put the stock system back on. With the added Torque Booster tube, I still got the light after the generation cycle. With my programmer I'm able to read and clear codes when they happen.

I am waiting for a Dual Monster exhaust from Bank's to arrive, and waiting for there release of an intake. Then will see what the reports are for that, if I will stay stock, or go with something else.

19,000+ mile now and I average with programmer in tow mode 17-mpg combo city/hwy, or 19-mpg in economy mode. I like the the slight performance gains in the tow mode verses the economy, it gives a little more HP & torque for the stopping and starting of all these red lights here.

I keep my air pressure up check often. Also droping from 75 MPH to 65 PH has gained me some mileage. At 75 I was getting just over 21.5 + on average at 65 I am getting just over 25 + on average. That is running empty, with trailer I might lose a couple, will check that tomorrow.

I am about to take my 20" wheels with 34" tires off and put stock 17" and 31.5" tires back on. That always saves me 1-2mpg but i look so poor with 17's Frown Fill ups are over 200 bucks now. My primary use is commuting and light trailer towing now. I have looked at half ton gas but I cannot close the tailgate with the ATV in the bed. That means I can't tow the trailer with one in the bed. The F250 bed is 4-6 inches longer than a half ton bed at 6'8".
I can't justify the cost of a newer half ton that only gets 14-16mpg and can't tow my 24ft toy box. I thought about a little commuter car or bike. But that is a 3-5 year payback at current prices. Diesel is 4.79 in town today...

I had my truck in for body work early last week. A piece of debris got my drivers side rear door and gave me a $360 scratch. Anyhow I had a optioned out short of leather '07 Silverado 3/4 ton crew cab short bed with the gas V-8, which 1 I don't know. lie-o-meter said 15.7 . But I did note i made the right decision staying with Ford Trucks. The Chevy to me was uncomfortable. I couldn't wait to get my truck back.

I too am looking at a beater/work car that gets good mpg. I won't get a bike or scooter, as my luck it'd rain 365 days of the year.
