I've had State Farm all my life I think, but with the prices Farmers are shooting me for home and car...I have to consider jumping ship.

Any one have good or bad experiences with them?

I have Farmers for the house and cars, but very little claim experience to be of any help. I did back into somebody ~4 years ago and they took care of the damaged vehicle with no issues (didn't do any damage to my truck).
Otherwise, the only other thing I can say is that they never fail to send me my premium statement in a timely manner, if that's important to you! Roll Eyes

Thanks Tiger, when you think about it, how often do you claim anything on your home? I think I'll check into it.

I had Farmers and moved to Liberty Mutual about 2 years ago. In my instance, Liberty was close to $600 lower on my homeowners and $60 less per month on the autos. Of course, this was with teen age male drivers, but it was substantial with equivolent coverage. As for claims, they put a new roof on my house due to hail damage last fall after only being with them a year. No questions asked or rate increases either. So, I've been quite happy. Easy to get an accurate quote online too!

I had Farmers for many years--until my son was in the Air Force in Arizona and Farmers refused to insure his vehicle at his "home of record: Colorado", because at that time the rates in Colorado were quite a bit lower than Arizona and they felt I was taking advantage of that fact. DUH!

Been with American Family for 20 years and have had nothing but good experiences with them.

In my own opinion, DON"T DO IT !!!!!!!
Have a good family friend who has been in the insurance biz for a long time. He suggested I check rates at other companies. He indicated that Farmer's is the worst at paying claims. (Both denying claims as well as how much they actually pay out.) He actually thinks they are or may be in jeopardy as people have been jumping ship for years.

When I checked GEICO and Progressive, both of which are very strong well run companies, (according to my friend) I saved about $400 a year for the same coverage by switching from Farmers to Geico.

P.S. - Geico's homeowners is Travelers, but you buy it through Geico.

P.P.S - Geico is owned at least in part by Berkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffet)

Good luck

I have State farm for house, car, RV and ATV. Now that I I have found out that it is not "economically feasable" to repair my ATV they have been inceredibly helpful in settling the claim.

I might be able to save a couple of bucks a year by switching but I like my insurance guy and with this claim thier customer service has been GREAT.

I owned a body shop, sold 2 years ago, Farmers is one of the worst when it comes to claims. There is a web site some where that shows the number of complants per so many policies sold and Farmers was one of the worst.

If you stumble across the web site don't just look at the number of comlaints without comparing it to the total sales.

My ex just had a flooded basement. Called their Farmers agent who told them to call Servicemaster to dry out the basement. $2600 later Farmer's is denying the claim saying that they don't cover water damage.

I had a claim with State Farm after the Windsor tornado for hail damaage on my truck,in a matter of 30 minutes I had a check in my hand for the entire amount.
