If you have been watching the news I am sure you have seen the stories about Joe the plumber who asked Obama to explain his tax proposal. Joe believes Obamas proposal will make it impossible for him to prosper and expand. If Joe expands a business and makes more money Obama wants to "spread the wealth around" with Joe's money being the key!

Joe also wants to know "who the poor are" that will get the benefit of his higher income. Are they those folks who have big TVs, cell phones and are still considered POOR?

Have you read or heard about Joe the plumber and what do you think? I think he makes more sense than either candidate! Razz

Joe the Plumber became an over the night celeb. From what I've read and heard, under Obama's plan the small businesses that make $250K or more a year will have tax increases. Many small business owners are going to have a tough time making the business work with the increase. $250K per year is not much money in business terms.

McCain got it right when he said we will be hurting the economy rather than help it if the taxes go up on small businesses.

We are mailing our ballots in today - McCain/Palin got our votes!

Personally, I actually feel sorry for this guy. Yes, he asked a question, and got a response. Then the McCain camp got a hold of it...

What I feel sorry about it is how this guy is being used by the politicians and the media. Heck, he is being subjected to more scrutiny than Palin was! I don't think he realized when the McCain camp brought him into the debate, just what he was getting into... His 15 minutes of fame is turning into 15 days of shame.

The reality is, the business would see less than an additional $1000.00 in taxes under Obama's plan. Joe the Plumber would actually see a decrease in his personal taxes. In fact, just today Joe the plumber stated that "under the Obama plan, I would be paying less".

So, now the McCain camp has announced they have found a new "joe the plumber" to parade before the press.

WHS~ I would find it impossible to be "subjected to more scrutiny than Palin". The Democrats and the media trashed this woman like no other in recent times.

As for Joe the Plumber's 15 minutes of fame turning into 15 days of shame. Well, that is outrageous in my opinion. Anytime a hard working, self sufficient, man or woman questions a slimy politician (as is the case with Obama) about their policies and how it will affect them they get my admiration and a - - hats off to Joe the Plumber.

Obama’s plan will ensure that businesses that make over $250k will pay more in taxes so we can give more tax credits and government hand outs to those too lazy to better themselves. Joe the Plummer is one such potential business owner who doesn't need his profits eaten up by the government just so lazy saps don't have to get out there and work for Joe the plumber, who will in turn pay them a good salary if they are worth it. I don’t care who you are a thousand dollars is still a thousand dollars. That would help the employer offer some benefits to keep employees around. Notice, I called them benefits, not entitlements, things like vacation time and health insurance.

Cut the taxes AND the size of the government teet. Abolish the entitlement mentality that is running rampant in this country. Not only is it creating a huge bureaucracy but it also is the root cause of the current financial market crash due to these sorry saps who couldn't afford a home yet were given special treatment. Then they weren't even smart enough to research or figure out that they were being shafted along with the shaft that was being given to the rest of us in the form of unnecessary and uncontrolled housing market inflation. Now we even get to bail out their ignorance.

Guess I rabbit trailed there a bit but it all comes back to the leftists that make up a large portion of the Democrat party, the party of "Rob from those with initiative to give to the lazy".

But no, Obama wants Congress to tax the crud out of us so that he can socialize this country more with the use of Congresses liberal tax and spend mentality.

Annie, don't get me wrong... I really think this guy is getting the short end of the stick, from both parties and the media! I actually feel bad for him. He is a hard working American, has dreams and aspirations and questions. Who cares about his personal finances, home, whatever... He is just an average guy, with average problems.

As far as Palin getting roasted - Too bad, she signed up for that. No different than what any (regardless of party) politician goes through. Obama, McCain, Biden, Bush, Kerry, Clinton (s), any of them... They all signed up for it when they decided to run for office.

Joe the plumber is getting cut up like chum bait. The media has decided this guy is a buffoon because he owes, GASP, nearly $1200 in back taxes. They also discredited him as a plumber because he doesn't have plumbers license. They never really explain that he doesn't need one while working for an employer that has it. They also act like he can't open his own business because he doesn't have one. What, you have to be born with one to get it?

What I think of Joe the plumber is he is actually Average Joe America. He works for living and, like the rest of us, is struggling at times to make ends meet. He's no criminal because he owes taxes and doesn't have a plumbers license. If the media wants to single people out for legitimate short comings maybe they ought to look to the HUGE ILLEGAL population we have.

There would be no reason for joe to become licensed in his area unless he becomes self employed or starts a business. He would usually have to have the time in working as a plumber to qualify to take the exam.

So where is it with Ovomit? We know more about Joe in 24hrs then we do about Ovomit. Disagree with Ovomit and you had better have a clean past or be ready to be called a racist. That's sad. Why can Ovomit make fun of his middle name but cries when others do?

I agree WHS.

Joe the Plumber was on Fox News "Huckabee" and said this: "It actually upsets me," Mr. Wurzelbacher said. "I am a plumber, and just a plumber, and here Barack Obama or John McCain, I mean these guys are going to deal with some serious issues coming up shortly. The media's worried about whether I paid my taxes, they're worried about any number of silly things that have nothing to do with America. They really don't. I asked a question. When you can't ask a question to your leaders anymore, that gets scary. That bothers me."

It is scary when you can not ask a politician who is running for the highest off in the land a question without being investigated like some criminal. Very scary!
