What do you wear for protection against the cold when you go out riding???

I have Carhartt insulated coveralls, but they are a little too small. Kind of a pain getting up over my shoulders, then off again. I also have a pair of Carhartt Insulated Bibs. These are from quite a few years ago, and again a bit small for me now. Base layer is Heavy weight Carhartt thermals. Gloves, Cabela's Gore-Tex pinnacle gloves. Head wrap which is a tight fit with the helmet. Added to this regular blue jeans, and a thermal sweatshirt. Regular socks, and Chippewa insulated Arctic 50 Boots.

I have been looking at the Carhartt Extreme insulated Jackets, Bibs, and coveralls. I have a coupon from Cabela's that'll save me some big bucks on replacements for what I already have that are too small. I'm thinking on just going with new bibs, and a jacket, as I could get dual usage out of a jacket for everyday wear.

Anything with Gortex works well remembering my WNY days. I'm looking forward to the best weather in the country for the next 6 months. Heck I don't even own a coat anymore.

Columbia or Cabelas Gore Tex bibs and over coat for the extreme cold.

Now that I have a Rhino, I'm sure the clothing will be the same as I plan to use the Rhino while ice fishing.

When I moved out west I got rid of most of
my cold weather gear except what I used to
wear for deer hunting on the frozen tundra ROFL

Here in Montana we wear shorts and T-shirts during the winter months. Durning the summer months it is so hot we ride naked. Thats how tough we are here. Oh yah, I forgot the helmet.

Really, I wear carharts or my gore tex camo bibs. Warm shirt and a jacket. I also have the hand glove things that attach to the handle bars. They get to hot with gloves on. I like the protection that give from the cold. I also wear 800 denier (SP) rated boots that are water proof. And something around my neck. That plate in my neck can get really cold.

Thermal undies, blue jeans then bibs. I have a light pair and a heavier pair, then rain bibs over that. Thats the bottom half. I wear my duck hunting coat on the top half and can remove the liner when needed. As for gloves I carry 3 pairs of neophrene gloves, plus have grip heaters and brush gards. I never know if it's going to rain or snow so lots of differant layers and always RAIN GEAR!!!! LOL

I am a wool guy. I was raised wearing wool in wet and cold Cascade Mountains of Washington State and so far have found no substitute that out performs the wool as long as you don't expect to stay light as a feather. You just have to be careful not to over exert yourself or you will unnecessarily get yourself wet and heavy from the sweat. Layers, layers, layers.

Wool long johns, wool pants, wool shirt, wool socks, light down coat, Thinsulate Gore-Tex boots, Neoprene face gaiter, Nylon leg gaiters, and all vents in helmet taped off with good ol' duct tape. I wear my thin summer gloves but rely on my grip heaters to keep my fingers from freezing onto the bars. I carry wool glove liners and ski gloves, rain gear, and wool blanket in a bag just in case. Don't forget the food and water. I carry plenty of food to feed the furnace and about a gallon of water to keep the furnace burning hot. I also have my emergency kit, including an emergency space blanket in a small fanny pack that can keep me alive overnight if necessary.

May seem extreem but I have camped out under the clouds with an elk in pouring rain using the elk cavity as shelter and vowed never to find myself miserable in the woods again.

Wow you guys really are prepared. I wear silk long johns, sweatshirt, gortex jacket, jeans, boots and turn on the grip heaters.

If it is too cold to be comfortable wearing this gear then this sissy is staying home! I do not like being cold! windy
