Hi all!

I am just starting out with trail riding on a 4 wheeler. I need advice on what type of luggage (tank and trunk) to buy and what kind of goggles are best! Thanks for any advice offered! I have a Honda.

I've had great luck with Scott goggles
I keep two pairs one tinted one not Wink

I prefer a a hard box in the rear just in case
it tips over Slap

and I've found the Flat pack fuel cell
works rather well 2thumbs

I'm thinking the hard box is a really good thing too! In my roll over at Taylor Park, I was fortunate enough to be between the handlebars and the $19.42 WalMart special box I had mounted on my rear rack. I think that is what saved me from getting crushed beneath my Polaris when we went over together! Slap

BTW: The box is still together, however it doesn't close too well and has new ventilation openings!

I had one very similar to the one on Desert Hawks machine and I hated it. In the rocks when the rear end would pitch about, the thing was beating me about the hips like a Goat. I tried to get used to it but I decided to sell it and go to a petting zoo to get my beating instead. I will be getting a bag or a very small box with out the sides after we get all squared away in our new place.

I have had good luck with Scott goggles but have to admit I haven't tried many others. One thing I would recomend is getting a "Qwik-Strap" for the goggles you choose. It has a pivot that "self adheres" to the right side of your helmet and some velcro on the left with a tab that allows you to put your goggles on or take them off with just the left hand and they will hang there ready for use so you don't "leave them behind". Very handy in slow going or humid conditions when the goggles need to come off as soon as you stop moving.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond... I appreciate it. My hubby came home today with some goggles for me... I'm not sure if I like them they are Scott High Voltage 3's. It almost feels like they will impede my breathing because the strap is so tight. It may stretch a bit I guess. He also saw a trunk rack that he liked and it was by Quad Boss. I can't find it anywhere on the internet. He says it has no zippers only snaps. That worries me because were we have been riding is VERY dusty and my bag that I have now was full of dirt. I think I will be more apt to get a soft trunk. All this talk of turning over and dieing pretty is freaking me out lol. We are going to Hatfield and McCoy in a month and that makes me nervous enough!!! Maybe I will tow my harley there and ride it (on the mountain roads) instead!!! I read something about extreme dangerous and it on the trail we are going on and now I am freaked! Maybe a sumo wrestler suit would work in case I bounce down a mountain.

Thanks again!!!
Molly

Molly,

No reason to freak just get some miles on
before you go and learn how your ride feels
acts and works Wink

Pack some swiffers to clean the dust off
the goggles it works great and they won't scratch

Enjoy the adventure 2thumbs

Molly - I have Scott goggles and they have worked well although I haven't tried other brands.

As for the rear box, I have a soft bag that has removeable smaller bags on each side. I like them a lot - very easy to get in and out of while on the trail. Only draw back is the back zipper - dirt will get between the teeth and can be hard to unzip and zip. When I hose off my quad once home, I hose off the bag as well especially on the rear zipper. I've used it for 2 years and like it a lot. I'll go out and see what the brand is and let you know.

Here's a picture - not a good one but maybe you can see what the bag looks like.
