Myself and some friends are planning on camping, riding and fishing up in the Tincup Pass, Taylor and Hancock Pass area this coming Labor Day weedend. We're trying to figure out a good base to camp and ride out from. We've thought about either side of Tincup Pass and between Taylor Park and Tincup. We will have two 4x4 vehicles with decent clearance, one is a Tahoe, with trailers (of course) and are looking for the free dispersed camping.

Any ideas or tips from those that have camped up there will be great!

Just above Tincup on the right as you are going up are several areas you would be able to get into, IF they are not already filled.

Thanks!

Before or after Mirror Lake?

Oh yeah, a stream or creek close by would be a big plus.

BEFORE. I dont think I would try taking a trailer on the trail around the lake. It gets rather rough in the rocky area and it would jar things to pieces.

The area I am talking is on the trail to Mirror lake and just a little ways outside of Tincup.

I did see some nice spots just above St. Elmo going up to TinCup Pass, I *think* before the road gets to be too rough for trailering.

Thanks Kenny! We were looking over a ATV trail book and saw some dispersed camping sites labeled on the map.

Have fun Colo_man. You are going to a really pretty area. Enjoy your ride.

Also lots of dispersed camping spots on Taylor Park side going up from the Trading Post to TinCup. With it being Labor Day weekend, you may want to get a head start - there will be lots of others camping in the TinCup area so camping spots will be hard to find.

Good Luck and have a great time. Take lots of pics to share with us.
