Hello to All !! I'm a new member here and new to Colorado too.

I was born and raised in Huntington Beach and after 53 years decided a major change was due. My wife and I decided on the wonderful state of Colorado. Finding out about the incredible off-roading here was a major bonus. I've done some off-roading and camping in CA, mostly jeeps, dune buggies, motorcycles. In places like Death Valley, Dumont Dunes, Glamis & Pismo Beach. I've never ridden a Quad but it seems like a natural thing to do here.

I just bought a 2008 Polaris 800 Sportsman Touring quad. I've only had it in a field near my house so far. The wife and I are chomping at the bit to hit some of the local trails. Waiting for any and all of the trails to open. I'm adding a few accessories like a front box, GPS, winch (this weekend), etc...

Anyway... First post so I thought I'd say hello to All ! Dave......

Me - The Beach Kid. What's with all this White Stuff anyway ?!?!?

welcome to the site ATV-Cruiser! Funny how both the places you cite are places I'm familiar with. Got cousins that still live on Seaside Circle in Huntington Beach and I lived at 904 Pinon Ct in Longmont for a couple years back in the early 80's. Watch the Rockhoppers forum and you'll see that we post and ride almost all winter out here. As a matter of fact we've got a big group ride set up for Saxon Mountain which is just 5 miles south of Idaho Springs on Sunday. You're more welcome to come join us if you can! Here's the link to that posting!

Cruiser what you find is that on these rides the guys will takes care of you. You won't meet any strangers, well couple of the guys are strange but most aren't. We all have been right where you are now and recall what it was like. ATV is a whole different world and the best way to learn is by going with the old pros that will show you the ropes. Besure and bring your helmet a full face is best.

Give it a couple more weeks and more of the trails will be opening up. I should get my new "T" some time after the 12th, of may. Some of the guys are planning atrip to the sand dunes in WALDEN the middle of MAY that would be great time to meet some of them also.

Thanks to all for the Welcomes & Hellos. I'm starting to feel at home already.

Cob, it took me a little while to put 2 and 2 together. You're the world famous guy on the YouTube instructional videos !! Smile I needed to do my initial oil change on my Polaris and jumped on the internet to see if I could find any instructions. Up popped your video! Made the oil change a real breese.. Plus I find out we're neighbors. I told my wife, what are the odds of that? The YouTube guy that helped me with my first oil change just happens to live 20 minutes away!

Thanks for your help and again thanks to all.

Dave......

twist my arm and we will meet at AUNT ALICES one morning for breakfast.

Thanks for good word about the oil change video. I have had more feed back from that than any thing I have done.

It's hard to make that first step toward meeting ppl that you have met on the forums, but thats all it takes is that first one and you are hooked. ROCKon (one of the strange guys)is also a neighbor of yours.

Of all the people you have to get hooked up with, avoid that COB guy. He we lead you down paths that you may not come back from but since you are both riding the same machine maybe he will be kind to you. Look for riding postings shortly.. Central City here we come.

I guess your posting here slipped my attention. Welcome aboard. I hope the "Ca transplant" comment didn't burn too deep but I am sure you know what I meant as we are all from somewhere.

Now knowing that Cob is a neighbor, you may consider moving a bit further away. He can be a pretty cantankerous old fart especially if you start messing with his prune juice. If he gets bit, he gets all infected and checks into a hospital. The other guy has it even worse. ROFL

By the way, even the old machines look new when they get parked next to mine. I am hoping that Colorado begins to issue "antique OHV stickers" for guys like me at a reduced rate.

See you on the trail. Beer
